Welcome to your local chapter of St. Paul Street Evangelization.
St. Paul Street Evangelization is a grassroots, non-profit organization, dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking our Catholic Faith to the streets. We do this in a non-confrontational way, allowing the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of those who witness our public Catholic presence.
We have just organized as a team in the Downtown Boston/ Downtown Crossing area, and are getting ready to get out there! But even before we’ve gotten all our materials, sign, pamphlets, medals, etc. together, we’ve had some amazing encounters already with just a few holy cards and medals.
I’ve recently had a workman in my home doing some remodeling. He’s been to my home many times prior. He was there a week after I attended the Basic Evangelization training. We had never had a personal conversation before, it was all light banter and joking. This particular day, I picked up that something was bothering him. I engaged him in conversation, and one thing led to another. I asked him if he was Catholic. That opened the door for a lot of his pain to come out. It turns out he was raised Catholic and had a very devout mother, but when he was six years old, he had been molested by a man who was not only his uncle, but was a priest as well. He was very wounded by it, and said that he wanted to believe, but he just couldn’t after that. I gave him the holy card of Jesus knocking at the door and he took it gladly. I told him I would be praying for him (and I have). About five hours later, my phone rang, and it was him. He was in tears and thanked me repeatedly, and said that he was going to keep that card in his van forever!
My other team member had an encounter on a street in downtown Boston. A man exited a bar just in front of her. She offered him a few holy cards, and he become overcome with emotion. He kept shaking his head and saying “you don’t know, you just don’t know what I’ve done in my life.” She told him it was never too late and she prayed with him. He thanked her and took the cards.
Please get in touch with me if you would like to come out with us some weekend, even if it’s just to observe. We’d love to have your company!
