Did you know the following fact?
The optional memorial of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary originated in Spain and was approved in 1513. For further information, see the following link: http://catholicstraightanswers.com/what-is-the-origin-of-the-feast-of-the-most-holy-name-of-mary-september-12th/
As we spread the devotion to our Lady, Mary, we are pointing people to Jesus, the second person of the Trinity. Mary always directs us to her son.

New evangelists often begin by interceding for the active evangelists and observing the interactions. Want to learn more about how to evangelize? Watch SPSE’s Bob Wilson here: https://youtu.be/OP75-Cxb8cU

The SPSE evangelist is doing what evangelists do – they listen! The woman with whom she is speaking is sharing her story. Normally, SPSE evangelists ask more questions than they answer with the most important question being, “Can we pray right now for your concerns?” And Jesus is proclaimed!
There is no true evangelization if the name, the teaching, the life, the promises, the Kingdom and the mystery of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God are not proclaimed.
From Evangelii Nuntiandi – Pope Paul VI, 1974
The icon below (Christ the Teacher) was studied for the first two session of the new Bible study at Matchan. Each person received the image. The Greek letters, the hand gesture of Jesus, the words in the Bible He is holding, and the colors of His garment were all covered as well as the Lord’s prayer (found on the back of the card) and where it is found in scripture. The richness of our Catholic faith; what a blessing!
SPSE, to celebrate our 1-year anniversary of evangelizing at Matchan, asked about starting a Bible study. The Matchan board loved this idea and the study began in July. It precedes lunch service and we normally have three in attendance (plus a few evangelists). In December, we added a song to help us open and close the study. What a blessing. God is good!

Lots of great conversations expected. Please bring some clothing or small household items to donate.
