The following report comes to us from team leader Veronica with our team in Minot, ND:
Recently, we set up our table in downtown Minot. (Minot is the fourth largest city in North Dakota and has around 50,000 people.) An elderly woman passed behind our table, carrying her coffee. She kind of threw a comment out, seeing if there were any takers. “My church split from yours a long time ago. We are just like your church. Our liturgy is very similar.” “What church do you attend?” I asked. “It’s one of the ones that split from yours,” she repeated. I said, “We have the Eucharist and we believe that it is truly Jesus, body, blood, soul and divinity” and she quickly retorted “so do we.” “In reality and not in symbol.” I said, adding, “Do you ever get an opportunity to go to a Catholic Mass? At St Leo’s? Right here?” “Yes,” she said, taking a sip, “when I need to go to a funeral.” We exchanged waves as she started to walk away. My hope is that the woman recalls my comments, researches the Holy Eucharist and differences between her church and the Roman Catholic Church, and comes to an understanding of who has the Real Presence.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
