Hot or Cold, God Loves Them - 2025-04-13
April 20, 2025
No matter how people respond to the Rosary, we remember that God loves them and wants them saved. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
We were blessed to have a large variety of Rosary colors again, thanks to the Queen of Heaven Rosary Makers at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. May the Lord bless the hands that crafted them and the hearts that so generously donated them to this cause!
Frequent visitor “Marty” stopped to exchange pleasantries with us. Please pray for him, especially to be freed from indulging in desires that only blind him to his need for Our Savior Jesus Christ within His Church.
A man, who is intensely quiet and who had picked up a Rosary from us before, was passing by. So, we greeted him and asked how he was doing. We then asked if he had tried praying with the Rosary. He replied that he did about twice a month. We also wondered if he had kicked Holy Week off by going to a Palm Sunday Mass, but he shook his head. So, we gave him a palm-leaf cross and a map to area parishes. Pray that his deep shyness does not hold him back from gathering with God’s children.
A young couple, sporting goth-type dress, started to pass us by, the man asking us to repeat what we said about a free Rosary. He hesitated, then came to the table while the woman stayed at a distance. E. Chuck offered her one, too, but she wrinkled her nose and shook her head. The man took the Rosary, but waved off the pamphlet. Later, as they were coming by again, the woman asked if we had a red Rosary, grabbed it up and immediately treated it very disrespectfully, laughing as they walked away. Forgive her, Lord, she does not know what she is doing. Save them both!
A young man named “Corbin” with a cross necklace and a thick book under his arm wanted a Rosary but didn’t know anything about them. He seemed surprised and intrigued by the depth and focus of the prayer. Later, as he passed the table again, he wished God’s blessings for us. Pray that Corbin perseveres in faith and grows closer to Our Lord.
A teenage boy on an electric scooter zoomed past us several times, but finally stopped when the word “free” registered with him. Still, he paused to ask, “Free? What do I have to do?” We said that he only had to treat it reverently. After choosing his Rosary (a short, black one—thanks again to our Rosary Makers!) and speeding away, we noticed he was checking in with adults at a picnic table across the square before making another trip around it on the scooter. Later, he came back. He said that his grandmother, who was in town visiting, wanted a Rosary, too, and chose a pastel pink one for her. May God unite their family in Faith in Christ Jesus, and may the Rosary prayers draw them into a deeper relationship with Him.
A man who probably has lifestyle issues separating him from Christ, stopped for a Rosary. But he was already wearing one around his neck! He explained that the Rosary wasn’t one of ours, that he’d gotten it elsewhere. So, we let him choose another, encouraging him to actually try praying the prayers.
A couple, accompanying a heavyset preteen boy, went by. When the parents declined our offer of a Rosary, the boy echoed them, adding a mocking headshake. It broke our hearts that the parents aren’t teaching about Jesus Christ when their son is so willing to follow their lead. They passed by again late in the session. This time, the boy spoke his astonishment that we were “still standing there two hours later”. One evangelist replied that it was “because God loves them”. The dad nearly said something, but then continued walking. Lord, save them!
A group of three perhaps-homeless women were each carrying one or two “palm crosses”, evidently just coming from a Palm Sunday service. They eagerly chose a Rosary apiece, and we encouraged them to pray it together.
Another possibly homeless woman came to the table to tell us that she still had the Rosary we gave her, but had lost the pamphlet. With a new pamphlet in hand, she happily went on her way. Pray she grows in devotion to Our Lady and in love for the Son.
Uwe stopped to chat a bit, exclaiming how great the weather was and how we are just insignificant nothings in the universe. We said that God loves us and that makes us significant, and that we are made in the image of God. But he didn’t seem to like that kind of talk, and just waved it away. Then he asked how “business” was with us, and was skeptical that anybody was actually interested in God. He tried to end on a cordial note and repeated how nice the weather was. We are thankful that he is not openly hostile anymore and will even talk to us, but please continue praying that Uwe comes to know God the Person.
Altogether, we gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as one map to area parishes.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with their hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit comes of today’s efforts.
God’s love for us is so astonishing! So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
