Called to Holiness - 2025-05-18

May 25, 2025

Although weather can be uncertain, God is faithful! So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

An out-of-town university that sponsors local programs was holding graduation ceremonies in the main convention center. And a steady stream of groups encountered us as they headed in. Perhaps 4 or 5 people accepted a Rosary. May God bless them and remind them often about what’s really important.

A woman from another country stopped because she was surprised to see Catholics on the street. She took a Rosary and the pamphlet in Spanish. The evangelist politely declined receiving a donation from her. May God bless our visitor and keep her faithful!

A heavy-set, perhaps economically challenged woman stopped for a Rosary. Her grandmother had cherished the devotion, she said. And it was shortly after her passing that our visitor first encountered us. She chose a reconditioned vintage chain Rosary with several medals attached, including St. Dymphna, the patron saint for those suffering due to mental illness. The evangelist encouraged our visitor to spend time with the Rosary prayer, doing a deep dive into the stories about Christ’s life. She was very grateful. May God grant her healing, wholeness, and peace.

Marty stopped to say hi. May the Lord heal him from his life of idleness and lead him to meaningful activity.

A Catholic couple stopped for a Rosary on their way in to the graduation hall. She is expecting, and gladly chose a Rosary for her baby. He was carrying a doctorate gown, getting his law degree. “Congratulations! We need good Catholic lawyers,” the evangelist quipped. May God bless the family and keep them faithful!

A man wearing a nice black suit stopped on his way into the graduation ceremonies. He was Catholic, he explained, but hadn’t brought a Rosary with him. He chose the plainest black Rosary we had. May God again bless our Rosary makers and all those who accept a Rosary with the intention of praying it!

A couple passed by, declining our offer of a free Rosary. Then the man changed his mind, saying something like God was reaching out to him and so he didn’t want to say no. He chose a Rosary, took the pamphlet, and then the two continued on their way.

There was perhaps a “Steven” sighting, but he just smiled and didn’t say anything. May God bless him and save him!

A man stopped for a Rosary early in the session. He was Catholic, he said, but hadn’t connected with a parish in the area. E. Lucy set him up with a map to area parishes, pointing out the closest one. He came back somewhat later in the session, having trouble making sense of the information on the page. The evangelist showed him the thumbnails of the three parishes that have a Sunday evening Mass. Since he seemed to be on foot, she gave directions to the one that was only a few blocks away. He headed off in that direction, saying he was going to go look for it. May God help him find his way back to Himself and the Sacraments!

There was a brisk breeze blowing, which made the weather chillier than it looked. Except for people heading into the convention center, foot traffic was light and people were in a hurry. But the apostolate still gave away about 10 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it, 1 map, and 1 Our Lady Un-tier of Knots prayer card.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

What a privilege to see the Rosary calling people back to prayer, even in the midst of everyday life! So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
