Evident Need - 2025-Jun-29
July 6, 2025
God continues calling people to Himself. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
A non-Catholic Christian, who identifies as belonging to a liturgical church, stopped. He didn’t choose a Rosary, but encouraged us for being there and being a public Christian witness. May God help him grow ever closer to Himself!
The man, who grew up in a culturally anti-Catholic area of the country, stopped again. He chose a Rosary though he has “a couple of them at home already”. Evidently, he displays them for the benefit of his sister, who is Catholic. Although not Catholic himself, he has several other relatives and ancestors who are. May God bless his Catholic-friendly attitude and draw him into full communion in the Church that He Himself founded.
A dance instructor class was going on in the main convention hall. Not a single one of the attendees stopped for a Rosary. May the Lord grant them conversion and deliver them from error.
A man and woman stopped so she could get a Rosary. After she had chosen one, an evangelist invited the man to get one, too. When we asked if he were Christian, he said no. So the evangelist encouraged him to use the Rosary as a way to get to know Who Jesus is. He chose one, and also accepted a copy of the Good News/kerygma pamphlet.
A group of homeless-looking men stopped for a Rosary, but one man hung back from the table. When the evangelist invited him to choose one, too, he replied that he had gotten one from us a couple of weeks ago, and that is why he brought his friends to the table. May God bless all of these men and restore them to wholeness and society.
A man with an odd getup (puffy square hat and a green dart poking out near his heart) stopped along with a companion. E. Chuck asked the first man what his costume meant and he replied, “I don’t know.” His companion wasn’t Christian, so e. Lucy encouraged him to pray the Rosary to get to know Jesus. She noted the promise of peace for those who use it reverently, even if all they have is questions.
A couple came to the table, all smiles, the man sporting an enormous red beard. They eagerly selected a Rosary each. Not familiar with the Rosary, the man said that though they were not Christian they were “working on it.” It seems this couple has been talking about God a lot lately and decided they need to “figure this out.” He also said he was reading through the Bible, using a source unfamiliar to the evangelists to help him understand it better. As usual, we lauded the Rosary as an important and effective way to get to know who Jesus is and congratulated them on taking seriously the important two-part question in life: Who is God, and who am I in relation to Him? Please pray for this couple, that they will seek Christ in spirit and truth.
A father and adult daughter stopped at the table. The dad said he was familiar with the Rosary because he “used to be Catholic.” We gave him a “Come Home” pamphlet and reminded him how to pray the Rosary. The daughter, who had “lots of Rosaries”, didn’t select one, but started asking about the prayer cards and pamphlets we had on the table. She took a Divine Mercy and a Mary Untier of Knots prayer card, as well as a “Good News” and a “Praying to Saints” pamphlet. It became evident that she was not asking for her own benefit, but so that her father would hear about these things. Pray that the daughter’s love and influence will open the father’s heart to the working of the Holy Spirit.
A non-Catholic dad, leading a bunch of children all on bicycles, selected a Rosary for his adult daughter named “Angel”. She had converted to Catholicism when she married a Catholic and, fortunately, the father had no problem with that or with the Catholic Church in general. He was glad that their marriage was steeped in faith. They started to leave, but the dad circled back and thanked us for being Christians in public. He gave us a small plastic Jesus figure to put on the table. He said it was his way of spreading the Good News: always carrying some mini Jesus figures and putting them in subtle public places. Pray that Angel’s marriage remains rooted in Christ and that the dad’s evangelization efforts bear fruit.
The homeless woman from last week, whose family and ex-husband were hounding her, passed by without stopping, but suggested she was giving up on prayer and just wanted some hope. Please continue to pray for her, so that she does not give in to despair.
Albert, who had picked up a Rosary last week, stopped to tell us he had given it to his sister who is Catholic. He then selected a Rosary for himself and talked at length about his own rather muddled views about God, spiritual practices, and the metaphysical. He agreed that Christ was essential and that it’s easy to get sidetracked by these other things. Yet, he kept circling back to those very things. Pray for Albert, that he hang on to Our Savior to the end.
Altogether, we gave away 15-20 Rosaries and its pamphlet, 2 Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer cards, 2-3 Divine Mercy prayer cards, 1 St Francis of Assisi prayer card, 1 map to area parishes and at least one Good News/kerygma and one Praying to Saints pamphlet.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
Evidence is that people stand in great need of Our Savior Jesus Christ. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
