Honest Curiosity - 2025-Jul-6
July 13, 2025
Some people bring us honest questions. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
Two men were passing by. One of them paused at our invitation to receive a free Rosary, and then approached the table. His name was “Isaac”, and e. Chuck visited with him awhile. . At first, Isaac just wanted to know why we were giving out Rosaries, and wondered if anyone ever took one. He responded positively to our purpose, but said he “did not go in for organized religion, but tried to be just spiritual.” He also revealed that he had gotten “ordained” online and performed a wedding ceremony for some friends. Based on the deep meaning he found in that wedding, the evangelist made the pitch for the deeper meaning of the rites and Sacraments of the Church. He also pointed out that the Rosary, too, held the opportunity of a deeper connection with Christ. Isaac then chose a Rosary and said, as it turns out, he lives not far away from a Catholic parish. So, the evangelist suggested he pray the Rosary in the quiet of the church. The idea seemed to intrigue him. Pray that Isaac heeds the Holy Spirit’s call to seek Christ, not just within himself but in the Catholic Church.
Meanwhile, Isaac’s friend, “Cameron”, also approached the table but didn’t want a Rosary. He was wearing a cross necklace. A non-Catholic Christian, he is from across the country and is in town to help out his mother. He kept commenting on how nice the people are here, and that stores can even display merchandise outside on the sidewalk without worry about theft. E. Lucy chalked that up to the lawful atmosphere in the city granted us from the prayers of its believers. She also affirmed Cameron in his decision to honor his mother by being there for her during this difficult time. The evangelist also prayed for him for continued wisdom and strength. Cameron ended up choosing a Rosary, and said he’d like to bring his mother to meet us next week. May God bless both men and draw them to Himself.
Two women stopped after one of them hesitantly approached the table. She was not familiar with the Rosary, and “used to be Christian”. E. Lucy explained the Rosary as a series of meditations on the life of Christ, and how it could be used to learn Who Jesus is. She also mentioned how people who reverently use the Rosary prayers to seek answers about Jesus find peace and protection. The woman chose a nice chain one and accepted the Rosary pamphlet. May she feel drawn to the Rosary prayer and encounter her Living Lord through it.
A young-adult woman stopped because she was curious about the Rosary. After hearing how the devotion draws one closer to Christ, she chose one. The slightly older woman who was standing nearby took out some money to offer us, but we politely declined. May the Lord draw the woman who chose the Rosary into a deep and blessed relationship with Jesus Christ. And may the woman who offered the donation be blessed for her generous spirit.
Someone from a large group of people read our sign out loud that proclaims “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” and pumped his fist in victory. May God bless that whole family and keep them faithful!
A boy, who was perhaps six years old, was wearing a t-shirt in a local sports team’s colors. He chose a long chain Rosary in the same colors, Even though the evangelist pointed to a shorter version made with cord, he wanted the chain one. He accepted the pamphlet on how to pray it, but the rest of his family didn’t come to the table. May the Lord grant the young man Faith and the ability to draw his family to salvation through Jesus Christ.
A large family group was passing by, after declining our offer, when the mother brought her young son back to the table. As the boy picked out a Rosary and listened to how to pray it, the mother asked the other evangelist why we were out there. So we let her know we are there every week and why we encourage people to pray and put their trust in Jesus Christ. She continued to linger, so we asked if she wanted a Rosary, too. She decided she did. Pray, Mother Mary, for this young mom, that she seeks to guide her children in the way everlasting.
All together, we gave away 25-30 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ, and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.
God will all people to be saved, so we try to maintain a welcoming atmosphere. But we depend on your prayers! So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
