Catholic. Truth. 2025-Sep-21
September 28, 2025
Truth leads us to God. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
Two 20-something women stopped when one of them wanted a Rosary. She was not familiar with the devotion and, when asked if she were Christian, paused and then said that she was agnostic. She politely listened to our explanation of the Rosary as a way to get to know Jesus Christ and accepted a copy of the Good News/kerygma pamphlet. Lord, draw her to Yourself and salvation!
A 30ish, angry male on a bicycle took exception to the words “Catholic” and “Truth” on our sign and accused us of spreading untruths. He believed neither in the Trinity, nor in the Divinity of Jesus, though he thought of Jesus as Messiah. He also didn’t seem to want to hear any replies to his “questions”, and scoffed at e. James’ encouragement “to stay open to the truth”. Because we were set up under a somewhat narrow skybridge and rain was falling on either side of us, we asked him to move a couple of times: first, so we could hear him over the business park sound system and, second, so he wouldn’t be blocking access to the table. He took offense after the second request, accused us of nefarious motives, and left. Lord, with You nothing is impossible. Please reach his heart and draw him back to You!
A toy show was going on in the main convention center, and several people showed up wearing costumes.
Two Catholic young adults, male and female, attend Mass at a nearby Newman Center and stopped to thank us for being there. The man asked us to pray for the man he is sponsoring in OCIA, “Earl Brown”. He accepted two invitation cards to the “That Man is You” (TMIY) Catholic men’s group. The man and woman each also selected a Rosary “for someone else” they knew, and agreed to teach them the prayer. Lord, bless these people. Keep them faithful to You, and continue to help them draw others to You, too.
“Uwe” stopped by twice to exchange dad jokes with e. Chuck. Lord, let him know that with You alone is lasting happiness.
Another man stopped to express grief about the murdered Christian politician, whose funeral was that day. Our visitor didn’t take a Rosary.
A mom and two pre-teen boys stopped so one boy could get a Rosary. The other boy then came forward, too, and selected one. Lord, please bless and protect this family.
The young-adult man, who talked to us a few weeks ago, stopped again. (He was a self-proclaimed pagan, and had tried to give us money, but had refused a Rosary because he “worshipped other gods”.) This week, he seemed nervous. But he asked if it was okay for him to take a Rosary so he could “give it to his mother”. We said it was more than okay and, with the aid of the pamphlet showed him what the prayer was all about, so he could tell his mom. Please continue praying for this young man. Ask Mother Mary to pray for him, that his love for his mother leads him to faith in Christ.
The teenage or young-adult clerk at the ice cream shop, where we stopped for an after-session visit, replied, “Sure, why not?” when e. James offered her a Rosary. As he extolled the merits of praying the Rosary, e. Chuck went outside to our wagon and got her one in her favorite color. Lord, draw her to actually pray the Rosary and turn to You.
Please also pray for the following people and their needs:
-
- A 20ish male, who accepted a Rosary, its pamphlet, and a TMIY invite card.
- A 23ish woman, evidently in a hurry, who grabbed a Rosary and its pamphlet without stopping.
- A 25ish inebriated woman, who tried to fit a Rosary over her head. She was very friendly and grateful accepted the Rosary and its pamphlet.
- A 35ish woman with 2 guys (maybe her husband? and father?) said, “yes” when asked if she’s familiar with Rosary, and happily accepted a Rosary and its pamphlet.
- A 45ish mom with 2 daughters each selected a Rosary and its pamphlet.
- A 19ish woman, accompanying her parents, selected a Rosary and accepted its pamphlet.
- Two 18ish males came recklessly by, having fun slipping and sliding on the wet cobblestones, but stopping briefly to pick out a Rosary apiece and take its pamphlet.
- A 30ish man, with a bicycle and wearing a patch-filled leather jacket, said he “had a few Rosaries at home”, and so declined our offer.
- A 50ish tattooed man, wearing silver reflective glasses and a hat, selected a Rosary and its pamphlet on his way into the toy convention.
- A 35ish man and wife, with 2 grade-school-aged boys stopped by. The man said his mom was from a family of 14, and was religious. Though he declined a Rosary, he said that he wanted to keep his boys open to different forms of religion. The boys were allowed to each select a Rosary and take a copy of its pamphlet.
- A thin woman, with long dark hair and many rings on her fingers, and her male companion each happily selected a Rosary and took a copy of its pamphlet.
- A 21ish female excitedly exclaimed, “No, I don’t have one”, and then gladly selected a Rosary and took a copy of its pamphlet.
Altogether, we gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it, a copy of the “Good News”/kerygma pamphlet, and a Divine Mercy prayer card, and several That Man is You invitation cards.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God is love, even when modern culture sows confusion. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
