Not by Chance - 2025-Dec-07
December 14, 2025
God seriously wants us saved. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
Two women stopped at the table just as we were setting up. The talkative woman said she was familiar with the Rosary because she had been raised Catholic . Her husband, though, was not Catholic and, when their children were little, they decided to raise them in a non-Catholic Christian church where there were more activities for the kids. When the evangelists encouraged her to consider returning to the Church and the Sacraments, she replied that she had been having that urge already, and had even been thinking she needed to learn how to pray the Rosary. Besides the Rosary and its pamphlet on how to pray it, we gave her a map to area parishes and recommended a retreat she could attend that would help her get reconnected with the Church. She stayed to talk for some time and was heartened to hear that she was allowed to go to Mass, and afterwards attend the non-Catholic Christian service with her husband. Please pray she heeds the call from the Holy Spirit and returns to the Catholic Church.
Meanwhile, e. Nancy talked with the first woman's friend, who attends a non-Catholic Christian church very near e. Nancy’s own parish. Both church buildings were built in the early 20th century. They talked about the beauty of older churches and its stained glass, but then the conversation started dragging. The evangelist picked up an Our Lady Untier of Knots holy card from the table, and told her about Pope Francis’ devotion and how Our Lady prays for us to follow her Son, Jesus. She accepted the card. Lord, please draw her ever closer to You!
One of the evangelists walked across the square to see what a new sign said. As he was returning, he passed a large group (two single moms and several children) that had just passed our table and declined the offer of a free Rosary. As the evangelist went by them, though, he overheard one woman say to the other, “This reminds me: I gotta get praying again.” The evangelists took heart that, even when people decline a Rosary, the call to prayer is being communicated just by our offer. Pray that this particular woman follows through on her intention to pray. May she seek and find a deep, intimate, and personal connection with her Lord and Savior in prayer.
About halfway through our session, a palpable sense of peace settled over the business park. Thank you, Jesus! And thank you again for your prayer support – God heard you!
Two tall teenage boys stopped. Neither was Christian, nor did they know anything about the Rosary. We briefly explained the devotion as a way to get to know Who Jesus is, and encouraged them to use it reverently to ask Him questions. They also accepted a copy of the Good News/kerygma pamphlet. Lord, draw them to the certainty of You.
A tall young-adult man named “Andrew” told us he was familiar with the Rosary because he had been raised Catholic. Even though he hadn’t been to Mass in a long time, he had recently tried attending a Mass, and was thinking he needed to get back to church. We encouraged him to answer this felt need with action, and let him know that some of the evangelists had also stayed away from religion in our youth, and now look back on those choices with regret. He accepted a map to area parishes, and was thankful when we promised to pray for him. Pray for Andrew, that he may have the courage and perseverance to look for Jesus in the Mass.
One of our evangelists also felt very encouraged after observing a young lady who was astonished to come across a Rosary “in the wild”. Although e. Nancy was only on the periphery of the conversation, it seemed to her that our visitor is a non-Catholic Christian, but has been listening to the Rosary on an app. Then, a physical set of beads just “showed up out of nowhere” for her! May God grant our visitor many blessings through her use of the Rosary. Her surprised and happy reaction, and her ability to walk off with a Rosary in her hand, was so interesting to observe. Interactions like this make it all worthwhile.
A forest service helicopter conference was going on in the main convention center. The city Christmas tree was still set up in the middle of the business park. But no big event was taking place there, so we had “our spot” back. The weather threatened to rain but stayed dry, thank God, and foot traffic was steady. Altogether the three evangelists gave away 30-35 Rosaries and its pamphlet, 2 Good News/kerygma pamphlets, an Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer card, a Divine Mercy prayer card, and 1-2 maps of area parishes.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God’s hand is at work even when we don’t perceive it. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
