God's Heart for the Lost - 2026-Jan-11

January 18, 2026

God is looking for the lost. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
As we were setting up, the table still upside-down on the ground with folded legs, e. Nancy asked a man walking two large white dogs what kind of dogs they were. He stopped to talk pleasantly about the pair and let us pet them. Then he asked us what we were doing. E. Chuck told him about the Rosary, and our visitor said he would like to try the prayer. We dug around in the bag until we found a color he wanted, and also offered him its prayer pamphlet. He accepted both and then thanked us for being there, declaring, “We need more prayer in the world.” Pray that he devotes as much time to prayer as he does with his dogs. Lord, draw him to grow closer to You through the Rosary devotion.
The Christmas tree was cleared from the center of the business park. When I arrived, a group of people, adults and children, were standing around that area. A couple of the grade-school-aged children ran toward me, offering me a tract from a source which tends to be virulently anti-Catholic and teaches bald-faced lies about the Church. I politely declined receiving such a thing.
A non-Catholic Christian church, whose members come downtown every so often to hand out tracts, showed up. We have had interactions, both positive and negative, with the pastor and various other members over the last couple of years. Our conversation this time began with “John”. However, instead of challenging our beliefs, John wanted to know how often we set up and whether we needed a permit, etc. He didn’t think handing out tracts was very effective and wanted to set up some sort of debate format. “Pastor Nick” then stopped to say hi. But he was trying to gather his congregation to go home, and so didn’t stop to talk. Much later, married couple “Mike and Cassandra”, who are part of the congregation but had been separated from the rest of the group, stopped to talk to e. Chuck. Mike, too, was dissatisfied with merely handing out tracts and wanted instead to find ways to engage people in conversation. He then asked what sorts of encounters we had and we talked about street evangelizing for some time. It turns out that Mike was baptized Catholic. However, once this came out, he ceased being a listener and quickly changed the subject before they went on their way. We are thankful these folks have a heart for spreading the word about Christ’s salvation and wanting more people to get to heaven. But please pray for them, especially for Mike and any other fallen-away Catholics in the congregation, that their eyes are opened to the fullness of the Faith to be found in the Catholic Church.
A rainbow-themed group, many toting upside-down flags, had been demonstrating at the Statehouse, a block or so away. When their gathering ended, several participants straggled past our table. All were polite, although none expressed any interest in the Rosary. Lord, draw them out of error and back to You!
A man in his late teens, sporting a double nostril-piercing ring and wearing extra-baggy pants, stopped for a Rosary after verifying that there was really no charge for them. When asked if he were Christian, he replied, “I’m not really anything.” So, the evangelists shared the Gospel message with him and let him know that asking God to “show him that He is real” is a valid and good prayer. He listened politely and wished us all a good day before moving on. Please pray that the tiny seed planted in him may grow into a life changing faith.
A non-Catholic Christian man stopped for a Rosary. He then claimed that he already had one “from the Vatican”. We tried to let him know that Catholics are Christians, too, but he didn’t seem to be able to comprehend that.
The woman from a couple of months ago, who’d had trouble fitting in with a certain parish’s choir, passed by. E. Nancy recognized her and greeted her. She returned the greeting.
A man and woman stopped so the fashionably dressed woman could select a dusty-rose-and-silver Rosary. They greeted us again when they passed by later.
A man chose a Rosary and tried to put it over his head. But it was much too small. So, he chose a chain Rosary instead.
A young woman, probably in her late 20s, hurried to our table pleased to see the Rosaries. She said her grandmother had made hundreds of Rosaries, and she used to help her. You could see it was very happy memory for her. She picked out a mission Rosary, and then saw a chain one. She thought it was so nice but was hesitant to take it. We encouraged her, saying, “If that’s the one you want, take it. That’s why we have them.” She said she had quit going to church, but had recently attended a service at Protestant church. It made her wish for the quiet of a Catholic church, so she had found one and just sat in the sanctuary for a while. E. Nancy encouraged her to go to Mass and also a daily Mass, which are both quiet. The evangelists also talked about how beautiful Mass is. She was very grateful for her Rosary and said she would go to Mass, although probably not until the following week.
There was a tall thin teenager with yellow hair, he had to remove his hat because he wanted to wear his Rosary. He selected the chain Rosary with yellow beads and pink Our Father beads. After the session, as the evangelist was walking to Mass at a nearby parish, she saw the same teen also heading that way. He was talking with another teen and was respectfully showing his friend his Rosary.
Altogether, we gave away another 12-15 Rosaries and its pamphlet.
Please pray for all of these people and for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit comes of today’s efforts.
It is so heartening to see people respond to God. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love.

“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
