Christ is Reaching Out - 2026-Jan-18 Report

January 25, 2026

We encourage people to respond to Him with prayer. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
A girls’ athletic competition was going on in the sports arena, and a home improvement show was going on in the main convention center. Several attendees from each venue stopped for a Rosary. Lord, please bless all those who responded to the sign of Your caring presence.
A family had just come out of the home improvement show and was going by our table, the parents not interested in receiving a Rosary. The children, however, came toward the table. “Only if it’s okay with your folks,” the evangelist warned. She had to repeat it a couple of times before a parent gave a nod of permission. Then, first the boy chose a Rosary, and then the 3- or 4-year-old girl. When the girl saw all the colorful Rosaries on the table, she cried out a surprised “Ha! Ha!”, her open-mouthed, tongue-out expression of unfeigned glee almost comical. There was no time to talk with either child about Jesus, so we just slipped their chosen Rosary and its pamphlet into the bag that each was carrying. Lord, bless each child and draw them both into a lifelong relationship with You.
Two different girls from the gymnastics meet came to the table for a Rosary, the medals they’d achieved clanking as they moved. Neither girl stopped for long, and none of the parents wanted a Rosary. Lord, bless each girl and help her strive to win Your approval.
A family came to the table so the two younger children could get a Rosary. The parents and teens then each chose one as well. We encouraged the parents to pray it with their children. They said they would. A few minutes later, the grade-school-aged boy came back to the table to ask for a Rosary “for his aunt”, which we allowed. Lord, bless that family with peace and unity.
A group of three or four goth-dressed teens stopped at the table after one girl, sporting a large double-nostril nose ring, expressed interest in getting a Rosary. We tried to explain the devotion and how important it is to get to know Jesus Christ, but she barely remained polite and returned the Rosary pamphlet before leaving. Two others in the group did choose a Rosary apiece, also accepting its pamphlet. Lord, only You can save these young people. Please do!
A middle-aged, non-Catholic Christian woman stopped and visited for quite a while. She is a mental health provider as well as a woman of prayer. She told us of one young woman with serious issues who hadn’t responded to treatment over the years. She was assigned to our visitor and showed up to her appointment with Bible in hand. Although this was a secular environment and “proselytizing” was prohibited, our visitor also knew that no other treatment approach had reached the young woman. So, she offered to “study the Bible” with her. The patient enthusiastically agreed. Our visitor got permission from her supervisors to use this secularly unusual treatment, and has been able to offer positive interpretations of Scripture that have give the patient hope. Not only has the young woman stopped missing appointments but has also shown real progress toward mental health. She agreed to take a Rosary when she heard its emphasis on meditating on the life of Christ. Please pray that she will be able to find ways to let a Christ-centered outlook guide all of her counseling work. Please keep them both in your prayers, God knows their names!
Two women stopped at the table, one interested, one reluctant. The interested one said she was Catholic and had been very active in her parish, but was now attending a local megachurch with a rock concert vibe. She missed the quiet of the Mass and when the evangelist reminded her of the power of the Eucharist, she admitted she attended the megachurch for her kids because it “made church fun” for them and her only interest was in having her kids “want” to go to church. When we suggested she get her family back to Mass and then do the rock concert church for fun she revealed that she was all in with the megachurch and was leading groups there. She quickly added that she was very thankful for the Rosary before they went on their way. Please pray that she heeds the call and her desire to return to the Mass.
The weather was heavily overcast and relatively chilly, but there was lots of foot traffic for the first time in several weeks. We were able to give away 35-40 Rosaries and its pamphlet.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God is serious about saving people. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
