Earthen Vessels - 2026-Feb-08

February 15, 2026

If we waited to be perfect, we’d never attempt to evangelize. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
A group of 7 or 8 young-adult women stopped. They were happily Catholic and attended a local university’s Newman Center. Some of them were curious about what we were doing and thanked us for “being out here”. Two of them chose a Rosary apiece. Then one of those two picked up a second Rosary and slipped it into the pocket of the woman standing behind her. We gave her another copy of the booklet to give her friend, too. We thank God for the active faith of these young adults and pray that their example will lead many to Christ and His Church.
Two grade-school-aged boys were passing by, accompanied by a mom-aged woman. The mom said no thank you to our offer of a free Rosary, but the boys headed to the table anyway. “Only if it’s okay with your mom,” the evangelist cautioned. “Mom!” the oldest boy (perhaps 8 years old) cried to a group that was quite a distance behind them on the sidewalk, “Can I have a Rosary?” When that woman, with some more children, got close enough to hear, she gave her permission. Soon they were all gathered around the Rosaries and, as we talked about the prayer, the first woman decided she would get one, too, because “it couldn’t hurt.” E. Chuck said that not only would it not hurt, but it would also help her deepen her relationship with God, Who became a man and died for us. Her reaction was hard to read, but she pulled back a little as the children asked for prayer cards and swapped their Rosaries for different ones in a flurry of busy hands and rapid-fire questions. The best question came from the younger brother, who asked, “So, what is prayer?”, which we were happy to answer. The mom was a little embarrassed by his question and told us she had taught the children the Lord’s Prayer. And we assured her that the Lord’s Prayer was in the Rosary repeatedly and that praying the devotion would help him learn it. Pray that this family will grow in faith and let prayer draw them into a deeper conversion.
A man stopped for a Rosary but didn’t know enough English to understand us. “¿Español?” an evangelist asked. Yes. We gave him the Rosary booklet in that language and let him know there was no charge for the Rosary. Lord, bless the man and grant him a place in the Communion of Saints!
A man stopped and removed his earpiece so he could hear what we were saying. He wasn’t familiar with the Rosary but also didn’t seem to want to hear more after learning it was Christian. Noticing his increasing discomfort in hearing the kerygma, we gave him permission to take his leave, which he did. (And yes, I recognize that that was probably a mistake on my part.) Lord, heal his heart and draw him back to You!
A homeless-looking man, with lots of beads around his neck, stopped for “another Rosary”, this one for his sister (I think?). He also took a copy of each of our prayer cards. Lord, you know his needs. Please bless and heal him.
A middle-aged couple, led by the man, approached the table. He is Catholic, but she had her doubts. The man was kidding around with her, but it seemed the Rosary did not interest her. And it wasn’t clear how deep her doubts went, since she seemed reluctant to talk. Thinking that maybe her problem was with Mary, we emphasized how Jesus-centric the Mysteries are. But she still didn’t want a Rosary. The man picked one up and, in a comic, exaggerated, stage whisper, said he would sneak it into her pocket. As they walked away, the woman shook her head. Pray that her heart becomes open to having her doubts healed, and that God will continue to offer her the joy of salvation.
Quite a few people wore clothing supporting a national sports team that would be competing later that day. A surprising number of them stopped for a Rosary. Lord, help them continue to pursue You, the one thing important (cf. Luke 10:42a).
During the session the sky kept getting darker and darker (although not dark enough for the streetlights to turn on). However, the Lord kept the weather dry. Thank you, God! Foot traffic was somewhat lighter than typical, although people were generally in a positive mood. We were able to give away another 25-30 Rosaries and its pamphlet, 2 Divine Mercy prayer cards, and 2 Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer cards.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God knows how imperfect we are, and He is still willing to work through us. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
