So Valuable in God's Eyes - 2026-Mar-08

March 15, 2026

Every soul is valuable in God’s eyes. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

As we were getting set up, a homeless man on a bicycle stopped to see what we were doing. He was Christian and said he was a prophet. When asked about that, he talked about Goliath and how the giants of the Old Testament had their origin after the flood in Noah. He insisted that we tell people about this so they would believe that the Bible is based on facts. Please pray he finds a way out of his addictions.

A regional playoff was going on in the sports arena, with back-to-back games. A lot of people had traveled to Boise from surrounding states, wearing team colors and in a good mood. Although most people seemed focused on getting into the arena to see their team play, a surprising number of them came to the table and got a Rosary for him- or herself or for a family member. Lord, please bless each of these people who were open to the Rosary devotion.

A man named David”, who was walking his somewhat unruly dog and using a rope for a leash, paused because he hadn’t heard our offer clearly. When he learned we were giving away Rosaries, he became wary and said he “used to be an altar boy”, giving us the impression that he’d been away from the Faith for a long time. He then circled to the front of the table to look at the Rosaries and dropped his dog’s rope so he could focus on making his selection. One evangelist petted the dog to keep it from wandering away while the others extolled the Rosary. David had an odd, halting way of talking, responding to us with, “Oh... okay... so ah... yes... there’s this...” and then he would strike several yoga-like poses and look at us as if he had just communicated something profound. We gave him a “Reasons to Return to the Catholic Church” pamphlet as his dog wandered away. David then wondered aloud if he was meant to meet us and we asked what he meant. He hedged, saying everyone seemed to be moving to “Christ-ism” for some reason. E. Chuck told him it was because God had created us to love Him, which David thought “profound”. Then he went to look for his dog but immediately found that it had wedged its leash in the base of a nearby lamppost. David laughed and asked if this meant he should stay longer and the evangelist replied, “yes.” The evangelist shared the Gospel message and the importance of letting the Church guide us in faith. But David became mocking and referred to the Eucharist as “little bits of bread.” As e. Chuck explained the true nature of the Eucharist, David suddenly went into another series of poses while giving the evangelist a significant look, to which e. Chuck responded by crossing himself and offering that gesture as one full of meaning. David shook hands with each of us, fetched his dog, and went on his way. Please pray for healing for David and a softening of his heart toward the Church.

A group of four or five older teens stopped for a Rosary. They were non-Catholic Christians. At first, it seemed they just wanted something free, but as we explained the Rosary devotion--with its promise of peace and protection when used reverently--they became more thoughtful and seem to take it more seriously. They each chose one. Lord, bless them for their politeness and draw each of them into a deep, lifelong, life-giving relationship with You.

A group of young-adult girls went by. When we offered them a Rosary, they excitedly replied, “We’re Catholic!” and one girl immediately pulled her Rosary out of her back pocket to show us. Lord, please confirm each of these women in the Faith and protect them.

There was a nicely dressed man, maybe upper 30s, who had never been married. None of us remembers the rest of the encounter. But we pray, Lord, bless the man’s effort to preserve purity of heart and draw him to Yourself and salvation!

A man with a beard broke away from his group to talk to us. His group kept strolling on, so he was in a hurry to get his Rosary and go. Despite that, he listened to our explanation of the prayer and seemed genuinely interested. So, we asked if he had ever wondered about joining the Catholic Church. Still in a hurry to catch up to his people, he admitted he had been thinking about the Catholic Church lately, so we handed him a “Why Be Catholic?” pamphlet and let him know when we were there every week so he could find us if he had questions. Pray that he heeds the Holy Spirit as God calls him into the fullness of faith in the Catholic Church.

A young woman stopped to select a Rosary, although she knew nothing about it and was iffy on what she believed. She had grown up in a pseudo-Christian religion but had left that faith, hinting that she was burned out on religion because of that. So, we showed her how meditating on the Mysteries of the Rosary could help her to get to know the real Jesus and how the Rosary prayer gave her the opportunity to ask Christ any hard questions she may have. Pray that her heart will be open to the truth of Jesus Christ and that she will seek him with all her heart.

A middle-aged man with facial tattoos stopped and was amazed to see all the Rosaries. He said he had downloaded the Hallow app and had been looking for a Rosary since January. He got a Rosary, an Our Lady Untier of Knots holy card, a Divine Mercy holy card, and a map to the local parishes. Lord, help him connect with a parish and bring him into full communion with You in Your Church.

An older man rode by on his bicycle and responded loudly “holy war” when e. Nancy asked if he would like a Rosary. He didn’t say what he meant by this. But we pray for peace throughout the world and among peoples. Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, hear our prayer!

There were quite a few groups of young people, mostly not Catholic, that stopped and wanted a Rosary, they were all so polite and, for most members of each group, very interested.

There were the two grade-school-aged girls, wearing uniforms of a national girls’ club, who wanted a Rosary, but one of the mothers discreetly shook her head “No,” and gestured for them to keep walking. Lord, draw the children to yourself and protect them from the anti-life message touted by sponsors of their organization.

An elderly man, walking with a group, stopped to tell e. Nancy, “I was Catholic. I was in the first class of students at [a local Catholic high school]. But I am born again, I’m a Christian now.” He said, “I know about the Rosary and I don’t want one.” When the evangelist said, “The Rosary is the life of Jesus. It’s praying with the Gospels”, he seemed surprised. He took the Rosary in his hand and became quite emotional. He then accepted the booklet on how to pray it, looked at the pictures, and said “Thank you, thank you so much” several times. The evangelist reported that she was going to say something like “it’s never too late to come back”, but our visitor already seemed nearly overwhelmed. Then, he realized he had to hurry to catch up with his group. Please pray this very sweet and sincere man comes back to the Church.

We got quite a few comments on how beautiful our Rosaries are. Whether people wanted one or not, they are so happy to see them. May God again bless each of our generous Rosary Makers!

Altogether, we gave away a good 35-40 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it, a map to area parishes, a “Reasons to Return to the Catholic Church” pamphlet, a “Why Be Catholic?” pamphlet, and an Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer card.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Victories of the heart can be very quiet, but we rejoice to see God’s love. And thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
