God Loves Young People, Too - 2026-Apr-12
April 19, 2026
God set up divine appointments for several people last week. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
It was raining steadily when we arrived for the session. So, we set up deep within a protected area, somewhat away from the main walkway. At one point, the rain slowed down and so we moved the table out to our usual spot, under the business park’s 20-foot-wide catwalk. At that point, people finally started coming to the table for a Rosary. But then the clouds thickened and the rain came down heavily again. Our Rosary pamphlets and other paper items were getting damp, so we moved back into the more protected area along the side of the main conference building.
Two young-adult men came to the table when one, surprising us, said that yes, he did want a Rosary. His companion seemed hesitant. But then they each chose a fancy Rosary from the table, the first man calling his “a classic”. And, although their mannerisms spoke perhaps of a lifestyle incompatible with the virtuous living required of Christians, we encouraged them each to pray the Rosary and get to know Who Jesus is. May God heal both men and lead them to wholeness and salvation in Him.
A teenage boy accepted our offer of a free Rosary. He was not familiar with the devotion and was not Christian. He listened attentively as we explained the devotion as a way to get to know Jesus and encouraged him to pray the Rosary reverently. He thanked us before he left, but he was so polite and smooth about it that a couple of us concluded that he was growing up among politicians. May Our Lord Jesus Christ grant him a dedication to truth and lead him to salvation.
A group of three girls in their early teens came to the table when they heard that they could have a free Rosary. Two of them said they weren’t Christian and one said, “I think so.” As each was choosing her Rosary, they listened politely to the description of the devotion and the encouragement to use it reverently to seek answers to their questions about Jesus. May God protect them from evil influences and lead them to salvation in Him.
Two more teens came to the table, both girls. One was Christian, the other was not. We again explained the devotion as Christ-centered and encouraged them both to pray it. May the Lord bless the one girl with growth in her faith in Jesus, and may He grant that the other comes to know Him and salvation.
Two other teenage girls came to the table led by the one who is Catholic. The other girl hung back at first but, when asked, said she was Christian. When we explained the Christocentric nature of the prayer, she selected a Rosary and accepted a pamphlet on how to pray it. However, she remained visibly uncomfortable throughout the exchange. Pray that the Catholic girl’s example will be a positive and attractive statement of what it means to be Catholic and that God softens her friend’s heart toward the Church.
May God again bless our so-generous Rosary makers! We literally couldn’t do this apostolate without you!
Toward the end of the session, when the rain lightened up for a few minutes, long-time visitor “Uwe” stopped briefly, although obviously in hurry to get home before it started raining heavily again. May God continue to bless Uwe and continue to draw him toward a life-giving faith in Jesus Christ.
A young-adult couple stopped at the table. The young woman, sporting a bright streak of blue in her hair, enthusiastically accepted our offer of a Rosary, exclaiming how beautiful they were. However, she was not Christian and believed that all religions were worth exploring. Her boyfriend, though, was Catholic and had even prayed the Rosary with her a time or two. We encouraged the woman to continue to “explore” Christianity by praying the Rosary and getting to know Christ through the Mysteries. Pray that her heart and mind become focused on Christ Jesus and that her boyfriend helps lead her to the Way Everlasting.
Quite a few people, when offered a Rosary, said they were Catholic and already had one. Two of them accepted its booklet when asked if they needed one. May God keep them all Faithful!
Here are some more insights reported by our evangelists: “Once again, I think for sure a person is going to pick a pink one and they get a black one. Then I think, oh, they’ll want a black one and they select a blue-and-gold chain Rosary. You never know.” And “It was cold and rainy. It seems, overall, a lot of people said they weren’t Christian, more than any other Sunday. No one said they were anything else specifically. I don’t think anyone immediately put [their newly received Rosary] around their neck either, as they so often do.”
Unsurprisingly, foot traffic was especially light and people were in a hurry to get out of the rain. Still, we were able to give away maybe a dozen Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God is in control and He knows what He’s doing. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
