Our Lady’s work continues! - 2019-11-03
November 11, 2019
Our Lady’s work continues! So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization apostolate! Two evangelists were available.
We are thankful, and a little in awe, that we had three people waiting for a Rosary before we even set up: two teenage girls, and a man perhaps with housing challenges). Our Lady is attracting people without us having to say a thing!
Repeat visitor “Wheelchair John”, the parking garage attendant, stopped to visit. He told us he was living on his own at age 17, and earning good enough money to do so. But he also talked fondly of his “drug days”, which I found disconcerting, given his claim to be a recovered addict. Please pray for him?
“Mr. Catholic Lite” stopped by again. Evangelist Chuck asked if he’d prayed the Rosary he received last week. He said no, but had talked with his sister about it. His sister belongs to the same non-Catholic Christian denomination as he, and had two Rosaries – one crystal, and one wooden. Our visitor accepted the wooden one from her, because it seemed more suitable “for a sinner.” We again encouraged him to pray it.
“Parker” also walked by. When evangelist Chuck asked him if he had prayed the Rosary we gave him last week, he said he had tried it and that it was “nice”.
Several more (different? same?) groups of teens stopped for a Rosary, but this time they were each astonishingly polite. Two of them (one each from separate groups) also accepted a copy of the kerygma after admitting to not being Christian.
Evangelist Chuck prayed the opening prayers with one group of three pre-teens. Two said they were Christian, and one said she had no faith. Yet, all three prayed the Rosary’s introductory prayers with us. We invited them to come back with questions next week.
A woman and her teenage son stopped. The son accepted a Rosary and a brief explanation of the devotion. The mother did not want one, but talked with evangelist Chuck about the message at the non-Catholic Christian service they had just attended. Chuck, in return, shared that week’s homily on Zacchaeus, the tax collector. They agreed that it was a blessing to be inspired by Bible stories.
A convention with a Spanish name was going on in the hockey arena. Attendees were dressed up, mostly in black. Not one attendee was interested in receiving a Rosary or talking with us. Evangelist Lucy thought it was a Spanish branch of a non-Christian cult that is active in the area.
The two evangelists gave away 12-15 Rosaries and its booklet, 2-3 copies of the kerygma, and at least one map of area parishes.
Please pray for these people and for us again today? Please ask God to send us people ready to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
Our Lady leads people to her Son. So thank you again for your prayers, encouragement, and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect, greatly bless, and save you and those you love!
“Go with the strength you have“ (Judg 6:14).
