Bride of Christ still appeals to those called to salvation - 2020-12-20
December 29, 2020
Despite the occasional vocal enemy of the Church, the Bride of Christ still appeals to those called to salvation. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
A mom (grandma?), accompanied by two preteen girls, stopped to allow the girls to each have a Rosary. E. Lucy asked the older girl if she and her family were Christian. “Sometimes” was the probably all-too-honest answer. Besides Rosary and pamphlet on how to pray it, e. Lucy gave her a copy of the kerygma.
A man rode by twice, each time shouting at us as if we approved and supported the priest sex-abuse scandal. He didn’t slow down enough to reply but, the second time, a family who looked like they were approaching our table evidently changed their minds and didn’t stop. Please pray for all involved?
Two 40-something women stopped, each accepting a Rosary. One said she had been raised Catholic. Please pray she returns to the Faith?
Two men stopped. One chose a miniature black Rosary with hot-pink spacers around the Our Father beads. Then he was disappointed it wouldn’t fit over his head. E. Lucy suggested he carry it in his pocket. We encouraged both men to start praying the Rosary daily.
A 20-something couple stopped. One was familiar with the Rosary. E. Chuck encouraged them to pray it together.
A man and college-age son went by. They didn’t stop, but the man said he always carried his Rosary in his pocket, except that he’d forgotten it this trip. He didn’t slow down long enough for us to offer him a temporary replacement.
A man, hastening to make a delivery, asked if we took donations. When we said no, he hurried away. A couple of steps later, though, he turned around and asked, “Then, how much are your Rosaries?” “Free,” we said. “I’ll be back,” he replied. A few minutes later, he indeed returned, selected a Rosary, and received the pamphlet on how to pray it. He didn’t engage in any further conversation.
Altogether, the two evangelists gave away about 10 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as 1 copy of the kerygma.
Please pray for us again today? Ask that God prepare people’s hearts to perceive their need for Our Savior and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God does not want the sinner to perish, but that he turn from evil and be saved (cf. Ezek 33:11). So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and bless you as you worship our newborn Lord!
"Go with the strength you have“ (Judg 6:14).
