Things may be heating up spiritually in this era of ongoing crises - 2021-01-31

February 7, 2021

Things may be heating up spiritually in this era of ongoing crises, and some people are becoming more open to the Catholic Church. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

An older woman, accompanied by a man, came to the table. She gladly accepted a Rosary. Evidently Catholic, she asked about Masses at the local cathedral parish. There is a parish in her home town, an hour’s drive north of here, but she seems to have issues with the assigned priest. She also asked for copies of our Confession pamphlet, which includes a good examination of conscience, our "Returning Catholics" packet, which contains several pamphlets, and our Good News/kerygma pamphlet. The man was almost hostile about not accepting a Rosary. Please pray for our sister in Christ, who doesn't seem to have much support at home to practice her Faith.

Three tall, dark-haired youths stopped. One claimed to be very familiar with the Rosary. They each chose one of our fanciest Rosaries, accepted the pamphlet, and were encouraged to pray it regularly.

One teenage boy from a group of youths on skateboards came to the table. He said he was not Christian and didn't know what the Rosary was. Though he was showing off for his friends, he listened soberly as we explained who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Then he accepted a Rosary, its how-to pamphlet, and Good News/kerygma pamphlet. Please pray he hears the call of the Holy Spirit.

A woman came directly to us, wanting a Rosary. She said her grandmother, who is a “strong Catholic”, would be so thrilled to see her with one. Our visitor admitted she had not been to Mass or prayed the Rosary in a long time. We suggested that, if she wanted to make her grandmother really happy, she’d pray the Rosary with her. She smiled and said it would make her happy, and "Who knows? Maybe this is what will bring me back." Please pray that it does.

Two boys, in their early teens, broke away from their family group to quickly visit our table. They were Christians, but didn't know about the Rosary. As we explained that it helped us draw closer to Jesus Christ, one boy made a face and left the table. His brother stayed a moment, confused, then followed. The father tried to get them to come back, then shrugged and declined a Rosary for himself since they identified as non-Catholic Christians. Please pray for them, especially for healing for the boy with the apparent aversion to Jesus Christ.

Three adult men came to the table, the one e. Chuck talked to said he knew all about the Rosary. We extolled the benefits of praying it on a regular basis. They listened, all the while staring at the Crucifixes in their hands. E. Chuck then told them that the world needs men deep in prayer; it needs men with a close connection to Christ. Pray that our people grow in faith, hope, and love.

Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 12-15 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as a copy of our Confession pamphlet, our Returning Catholics packet, a map to area parishes, and 2 Good News/kerygma pamphlets.

Please pray for us again today? Please ask God to prepare people’s hearts to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

During the ongoing social changes and limitations, God is calling people to grow closer to Him. Some people hear. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
