Soul after soul approached us, interested in Jesus Christ! - 2021-02-07

February 14, 2021

Soul after soul approached us, interested in Jesus Christ! So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

Two bushy-haired teens were our first visitors. One claimed to be Christian, the other no longer did. They each accepted a chain Rosary and its booklet. The one who had turned away from Christianity accepted a Good News/kerygma pamphlet and the encouragement to spend some time with it as soon as he got a quiet moment.

Almost immediately afterward, two more youths stopped, each wearing a large, dangly, cross earring. They also each accepted a Rosary and its pamphlet. They were Christian, but did not know about the Rosary. They heard out our encouragement to dive deep into the life of Christ through prayer and thanked us.

Then, moments later, two college men made a beeline to our table. They told us they had been friends in high school and had met again in college. They had been delighted to see us because they had just been talking about how they needed to get back to church. They belong to a non-Catholic Christian denomination, but gladly accepted the Rosary and its pamphlet as a way to grow closer to Christ. Pray they heed the Holy Spirit's call.

Next, a group of 3 youths stopped, each accepting a Rosary and its pamphlet.

Two men on bicycles stopped. One reminded us that he had received a Rosary from us in the past, but did not answer when asked if he had tried praying with it. He then hung the Rosary on his bike. The other man listened patiently as we explained how to pray it and also hung his Rosary on his bike. Pray they find that the Rosary is a link to Our Savior and not a mere decoration.

A bit later, a father with two children, perhaps 8 and 4 years old, stopped. All three chose a Rosary, the big sister helping her younger brother to make his selection (which, coincidentally, coordinated with the one she had chosen for herself). We encouraged them to pray it as a family.

A group of three 20-somethings stopped to accept a Rosary apiece. They laughed when we suggested they pray it together. But let's pray they do!

A man, sporting a pointy black beard and mustache, and wearing a green velvet evening dress, asked us for free food. We instead offered him a free Rosary, which he declined, proclaiming how much he hated Jesus Christ. He continued to spout blasphemies as he staggered on past. May Your love and mercy turn his heart to You, O Lord, the true Bread of Life.

A passing man hollered that he had picked up a Rosary from us recently, but admitted he had not tried praying it. When entreated to try it at least once, he answered that yes, he should. Lord Jesus, fill him with the courage to approach You in prayer.

A college-aged couple stopped. She chose a Rosary and promised to try it. He stood back and didn't want one.

A 40-something couple, hauling hockey equipment, passed by. Shaking their heads no, the man said he's "a recovering Catholic". Please pray for them?

Although foot traffic was still fairly light, we had 50-90% acceptance rate overall (compared to our historical 10% average). Altogether, we gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as a copy of the kerygma.

Please pray for us again today? Please ask God to again send people to us, prepared to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

The Lord heard your prayer last week to send people to us! So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
