Even nominal Catholics are feeling the call to return! - 2021-03-28

April 4, 2021

Perhaps people who think churches are still closed are "Chr-Easters" (Christmas-Easter-only), who haven't tried to attend since last Easter. We welcome them. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A man stopped on his way out of the hockey rink. Already Catholic, he had “plenty of Rosaries”, but said his parish was shut down and he was tired of watching Mass on the internet. Learning that area churches are indeed open, he then expressed his concern for taking his immunodeficient wife. E. Chuck let him know that his parish has Masses where exposure can be minimized. E. Lucy gave him our map with contact info. He gladly accepted. May they come home for Easter!

A non-Catholic Christian stopped. The woman stood at a distance as the man came to talk to us. He said he didn’t know what a Rosary was, but wanted one because his “girlfriend prays it". Once he got an explanation of the devotion, he became willing to try it himself. He then asked for a matching Rosary for his girlfriend. May they draw closer to Christ in prayer!

A man who slowed but didn’t stop told us he had grown up Catholic, but gave it all up, and was now “just spiritual”. In fact, he had put together his own religion based on being just spiritual.

Then a couple with a small dog went by. The man said he didn’t need a Rosary because they all (including the dog) believed in a pantheist/atheist religion. May they and the previous man turn from themselves and choose You, Lord, the Author of Life.

A man smugly flashed a horned hand sign at us as he and his group went by. Pray for him?

A couple, with a baby in the stroller. went by. The father hung back to get a Rosary. He listened to the explanation, then asked for one for his son. E. Lucy asked if he thought his wife would like one, too, gesturing to the woman waiting with the stroller. “Yes.” E. Lucy then urged him to get the whole family praying it together daily.

A 20-something, heavily tattooed woman stopped, while the man accompanying her stood at a distance. She accepted a Rosary, but evaded answering whether she was Christian. Pray for them?

A perhaps 30-year-old man stopped. He said he had gotten a Rosary from us before, but would like one to pray. We gave him one.

Three college-aged men declined a Rosary. But, a few paces later, one of them changed his mind. Not familiar with the Rosary but knowing Christ, he accepted a Rosary, its pamphlet, and our encouragement to pray. May he follow the Holy Spirit's call.

A college-aged couple, who were Christian but didn't know about the Rosary, each chose one and agreed the approach of Easter was an important time to get closer to Christ. Mother Mary, pray for them.

Our “acceptance rate” was about half typical, but we gave away about 10 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as a map to area parishes.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Jesus Christ Our Savior and His Holy Catholic Church, and to bring much good fruit for His Kingdom from today’s effort.

Even nominal Catholics are feeling the call to return! So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and those you love!
