Happy Summer! - 2021-06-20

June 27, 2021

Last week marked the US holiday called “Father’s Day”. The weather was hot but a constant breeze was blowing, so quite a few families, or partial families, were out and about. Due to the holiday, only one evangelist was available that day.

A family went by, the parents declining the Rosaries. Later, they passed by again. This time they let their two children, under 5 years old, each choose a Rosary. E. Lucy gave a brief explanation of the devotion to the mom, gave her the pamphlet on how to pray it, and encouraged her to have her family pray it together. May Our Blessed Mother bless and protect that whole family!

Two teenagers on skateboards stopped. One said that, some time ago, we’d given him a pamphlet on battling the enemy of mankind. That didn't sound familiar to the evangelist, but she set him up with a Rosary and its pamphlet on how to pray it. She also gave him a copy of the kerygma, pointing out that it's only one page and urging him to take a moment to read it. The other teen claimed to be a Christian and also accepted a Rosary. May they both be drawn into a deep and living relationship with Our Lord!

A man carrying a backpack stopped for a free Rosary. He claimed to be "Roman Catholic", but didn't seem to have a regular prayer life. He gladly chose a brown Rosary from e. Lucy's hand and accepted the pamphlet. May Our Lord heal the man and bring him to holiness.

A Catholic man stopped for a Rosary, asking if they were blessed. He also accepted the pamphlet when he saw it contained the "new" Luminous Mysteries, which he correctly attributed to Pope St John Paul II. May he develop a love of the Rosary that draws him even deeper into the Church!

“John” the parking lot attendant came by several times, and stayed an extra few minutes to help e. Lucy pack up. He also gave her directions to a gas station with "free air" for her flat tire (discovered when setting out for downtown). Access to tire air needed to be free  since Jesus had said, "Take nothing for the journey" (cf. Matt 10:9-10).

Altogether, the evangelist with the perhaps too quiet voice, still gave away 7-10 Rosaries and its pamphlet, plus a copy of the kerygma.

Please pray for us again today? Please ask God to send to us people with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

God is indeed the most loving of all Fathers! So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and bless you and all those you love!
