Surprised by God's Grace] - 2021-08-29

[Surprised by God's Grace] Sometimes, we feel surprise when certain people respond positively to the Rosary. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort!
A young man, late teens or early 20s, stopped by, still dressed in his fast food uniform. Offered a Rosary, he replied that he didn’t know anything about it and volunteered that he identified as a member of a major non-Christian theistic religion. E. Lucy pointed out that his holy book spoke respectfully of both Jesus and Mary. That seemed to open him up to hear what else we had to say. She asked him to read our one-page summary of the Christian Faith (so he would know what we believe about Jesus when we pray the Rosary), and then she went on to describe the Rosary devotion to him. Borrowing from the promises received by Bl. Alan de la Roche, she told him that many people find peace and protection when they sit down and use the Rosary, if only to ask questions about Jesus. He then gladly accepted a Rosary and the pamphlet on how to pray it. Pray he has an encounter with the Son of God!
A group of four young Christian women in their late teens stopped. When we explained the Rosary to them, they expressed a (somewhat incredible) amount of enthusiasm. Then they each chose a Rosary. As they left, one of them asked God to bless us. They again enthusiastically greeted us a bit later as we headed to our respective cars. Lord, keep them safe in You!
Two pairs of homeless women stopped. One group of two seemed as if they had been down and out for a long time. The younger of them, not practicing any faith, listened attentively as e. Lucy described the Rosary and told her how people had gotten their lives back on track after committing to pray the Rosary every day for a month. Her eyes suddenly showed some hope! Meanwhile, e. Chuck chatted with the older woman, who also took a Rosary as well as a map to local parishes. The other pair of women didn't look so financially down, but e. Lucy got the sense that they were on the street, too – perhaps among Boise’s “working poor”, since the cost of housing has gotten so out of hand here. These women also chose a Rosary apiece and indicated they would try to pray it. Please pray for God’s grace and healing for all four of them? Homeless women are especially vulnerable!
A bearded homeless man stopped when offered a Rosary. After choosing one, he opened the top of his duffel bag and asked the evangelist if she knew any women who would like a dress. (No.) He'd been dumpster diving, he told her. Lord, renew his life in Your Son!
A little girl on a scooter watched us with curiosity as we set up the table. Her eyes taking in all the colorful beads, but she did not come to ask about them. As she rode around, she kept getting closer and closer. So finally, e. Chuck asked if she wanted a Rosary. She shrugged, so he asked if she knew who Jesus was. She shook her head no and rode away, not coming near the table again. Lead her to your Son, Mother Mary!
Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 12-15 Rosaries and its pamphlet, 1 copy of the kerygma, and 1 map to local parishes.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
We pray we invite each person who passes by to develop their relationship with Jesus Christ through the Rosary. Some people say they will! So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
