Always New - 2021-11-07

November 17, 2021

[Always New] Souls who are loved by God are being introduced or re-introduced to the Rosary. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

An economically disadvantaged woman with missing teeth stopped when she learned the Rosaries were free. She said (I think) that she was familiar with the prayer (perhaps from childhood), but accepted a copy of the booklet with the Mysteries in it. Then she asked for a copy of our book “The Dogma of Hell” in order to give it to her husband. May God grant the woman peace and protection, and bring them both back to active participation in the Sacraments.

“Cole”, the homeless man who used to walk laps around downtown equal to the day of the month, greeted e. Lucy as she was arriving. He was doing fine, he said. Good to see him out and about again.

A twenty-something couple stopped, the man did all the talking as his girlfriend held back a little. He was not familiar with the Rosary but was Christian. He was surprised to hear that the Rosary is so focused on the life of Christ. Both he and the evangelists encouraged the woman to choose a Rosary, which she finally did as we assured them that praying it together would be a blessing. Pray for this couple's unity and obedience to Christ.

  1. Lucy talked with “Kelly”, a victim of an already bruised and bloody level of domestic violence from “Candy”, the woman he’d taken in to save her from the streets. (He’d already been granted a protection order by the courts.) By the end of the conversation, Kelly accepted a Rosary and the booklet on how to pray it. May God grant him the ability to actually do so, and grant him the peace and protection promised to those who pray it reverently. May God also grant Candy freedom from the dangerous drug(s) she's addicted to.

Several people thanked us for being out there.

A man stopped and said he was “kind of familiar with the Rosary”. When asked if he was Christian replied no, he was raised Catholic. We explained that Catholics are Christians, which seemed to exasperate him. Then he admitted that he was just out of jail, and was hoping to get his life together. E. Lucy recommended daily prayer and Bible reading. He showed us his Bible and chose a Rosary. Pray he perseveres in his desire for reform and conversion.

A teenager on an e-bike said, while choosing a Rosary, that he used to hang out downtown a couple years ago with a bunch of other kids on skateboards and had picked up a Rosary then. He dodged the question of whether he had prayed it when he received the first one and was politely noncommittal as we encouraged him to draw closer to Christ in prayer now. Pray he hears the Holy Spirit’s call to faith, hope, and love.

A woman speeding by on a bike slammed on the brakes and circled back to the table, saying she was in a hurry but was wondering about the rosary. She “knew who Christ is” but said she had been “exploring who God is” for a while, leading us to understand she held to no one religion at this time. We assured her that the Rosary prayer would help her see who God really is. Pray she lets herself be led to the Holy Trinity.

We also kind of remember two preteens stopping, but only one choosing a Rosary. Oh, and the family that passed by, the little girl shouting “Wait! I want one”, but her parents saying no. We had some Catholics stop, too, including the Legion of Mary lady.

Latest update on “Myron”:

Myron is OFF the ventilator. Swallowing exercises and getting the tracheotomy closed up so he can eat and lose the feeding tube. Apparently he had a stroke while out so his left side is weak. Gonna need physical therapy for that. But the team is all talking and planning for his recovery now, unlike a few weeks ago.

Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 10-12 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as one Dogma of Hell booklet.

Please pray for us again today? Please ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Over the years, this team has set up perhaps 9000 people with the Rosary and encouraged them to pray it. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
