Christian Counterculture - 2021-11-14

December 5, 2021

[Christian Counterculture] The popular culture deceives us with its message to seek comfort always and at all times. The message of the Cross runs counter to that, and always has. But, despite this season of increased emphasis on self-indulgence, some people stopped to talk with us. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A “Wintry Sale” was going on in the convention center near where we set up. Quite a few people came and went from there, but very few of the attendees stopped at our table.

A group of 4-5 teens stopped after a first girl showed interest in receiving a free Rosary. At least 3 other members of the group then also chose a Rosary and listened attentively to the description of the devotion.

Most of the members of another group of 5 or 6 teens chose a Rosary. Please pray all these young people hear and follow the call to salvation!

A man went by, loudly proclaiming his unbelief. The evangelist called back, “Sorry to hear that!” The man laughed. Please pray for him? His salvation is not a laughing matter.

A man carrying a camera stopped. He gladly told the evangelist that he’d started RCIA at a nearby parish. He said he’d become Catholic after he tried to disprove the doctrine of the papacy but, instead, found that the Church has good grounds for the doctrine. The evangelist described the Rosary devotion and encouraged him to try it. He also asked where to find a Catholic bookstore is in the area, so the evangelist gave directions. Please send up a prayer that he becomes a lifelong faithful Catholic!

A couple of people happily said they were already Catholic and had lots of Rosaries at home. I asked them to pray for us!

Another “Myron” update (and, thank you again for your continued prayers!):

Myron no longer needs the tracheotomy opening for a ventilator. They’ve now placed a bandage over the hole until the skin heals. Also, he is down to 3 liters of oxygen. He was to get a PEG feeding tube last Tuesday. Please  keep prayers coming for him to get restful sleep at night so that he is awake and ready for therapy during the day.

Altogether, the evangelist gave away 15-20 Rosaries and its pamphlet. (Pearlized light-pink Rosaries were especially  popular that day.)

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to prepare people’s hearts to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

“In season or out of season”, we hope to continue to proclaim the Good News of just how much Our Savior loves us and what He has done to save us! So thank you again for your ongoing prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
