God Calls - 2022-01-16

February 8, 2022

[God Calls] The Rosary calls out, “Catholic!”, even when we are silent. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

Praise God that His voice is louder in people’s hearts than our own, because we gave away two Rosaries to two different groups before we were set up or had started offering Rosaries to passersby. Thank you, Lord, for faithful Catholics.

A dad and young son were heading into the sports arena. The dad declined our offer of a free Rosary, but the son headed to our table anyway. We told him no, he had to do what his father said. We repeated it several times before the father caught up with him and dragged him away. Lord, continue to draw that boy to You and teach him to respect his father and learn how much You value obedience.

“John”, the parking-lot attendant, made a special effort to see us. Please pray for him and his wife, “Linda”? They’ve both been very ill for the last month. After the first week, John was able to work but not much else. Today, he was feeling well enough that, though he still drives between garages, he suddenly realized it was Sunday. So he left his pickup nearby, took out his bicycle, and came to see us. He was pale, and slightly out of breath. Lord, please have mercy on John and Linda. Grant them salvation, safety, and healing!

A local Rosary-maker group gave us some Rosaries, one of which—in the local university’s colors—was the first to be claimed by a passerby.

A man and his adult son happily stopped for a Rosary apiece. The son wanted the Rosary booklet in English, but the dad wanted the Spanish-language version.

Lots of active Catholics were happy to see us out there! So thank you again for your prayers after an unusually negative session last time.

One man peeled away from his group of young adults to come get a Rosary. Both he and the group seemed impatient to move on. So, when our visitor said he wasn’t Christian, e. Lucy gave him our one-page summary of the kerygma and asked him to read it when he got a moment. She also encouraged him to pray the Rosary, even if all he had were questions, such as, “Who are You, Jesus?” and “What do You want of me?”

Two women, in their upper teens, stopped for a Rosary. They said they were familiar with it, but their clothes sported many non-Christian symbols. Pray for them that they find the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

A group of young men stopped for Rosaries. When e. Chuck asked one of them if he were Christian, he named a non-Catholic Christian denomination in a mildly challenging way. So, e. Chuck affirmed our brotherhood in Christ and explained the Rosary, emphasizing the meditations on the life of Christ. He also encouraged our visitor to look at Christ with the loving eyes of His mother, and take to heart His words, actions, and sacrifice. Holy Mother, help him see your Son through your eyes.

A Catholic woman chose a Rosary, and then accepted the pamphlet because she didn’t know what the “new additions” were. Lord Jesus, grant she resumes an active participation in the life of Faith in Your Church.

Altogether, the evangelists gave away 15-20 Rosaries, and 1 copy of the kerygma.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with their hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Many people think fondly of the Rosary, and God uses that to call them to Himself. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

“Go with the strength you have” (Judg 6:14).
