Our recent visit to St Leo's Soup Kitchen was another memorable event.  Over 100 guests come for lunch and camaraderie several times a week. At this point, we are pretty well-known there and we always feel very welcomed by the staff and guests. It was a calm, peaceful day.  We always wait for the guests  to come up to our table. Whenever they ask for a rosary, we give them a simplified sheet that explains the prayers and beads.  If they want a Miraculous Medal, we give them the card that explains the event.  Same with the decade ring we offer and many other items, making it a meaningful teachable moment.  They always want to put the medals on right away. Many are proud to show us that they are still wearing it on a return visit.

A very nice couple, Adriana and Kwame came by.  He had a handful of ponies in his hand and told us it was for wife of three years and it was their 3rd anniversary.  He asked if he could have a crucifix for Adriana as a gift for her. She mentioned that she would like to pray. We have chairs set up for people who would like to pray to allow for some privacy.  We asked them to start the prayer by thinking about what they were thankful for. They did that and said they wanted to pray that their love would continue to grow...how lovely.  As we were ending our prayer session, I asked them to say the Our Father with me.  They weren't sure of all the words so they , very willingly, repeated after me, each line.  I asked them if they attended a church. They did not but accepted a sheet we had out of nearby Catholic churches.  They also accepted a rosary, along withe sheet that explains the prayers.  I mentioned that one way to grow in their love was to pray to our Lord together. They smiled and thought they would try this.  Looking forward to seeing them again to see if they have followed through.  Thanks be to Jesus Christ!

Later Rico came by and prayed for family health.  Corena prayed for mental issues and her son.  Roslyn felt she was "under attack" as so many things were going wrong.  She attended a Catholic church and wanted a copy of a Novena to our Blessed Mother.  We told we would look for one and asked her to think about what was "going right" for her and to Thank God for the "positive" in her life, as well as guidance for the negative.  She said she would. Another young man asked for prayers for his aunt. Even the Kitchen Manager stopped by and a board member to ask for a medal and a rosary. Many signed our sheet for Intercessory prayers from our parish.

Karen, my team mate and I had a very busy but wonderful day and we thank our Holy Spirit for all His guidance.  God is Good!!
