Another beautiful day to evangelize in Florida. Thanks to Liz & Lori for providing support. We had plenty of traffic and some interesting encounters. We gave away over 40 rosaries and 30 medals. Here is a sample:

  • A woman from Nashville took a rosary and asked about wearing it.  She told me she had been admonished before and didn't want to offend anyone. I explained the rosary is a set of prayers and gave her a pamphlet. I did point out that a rosary is not jewelry, but I urged her to let her conscience guide her. She said she wanted it to be close to her heart. I could not find fault with that. As any SPSE knows, the rosaries we give away often go over the head.
  • A grandmother took some pamphlets for her grandchildren that explained the existence of God. She seemed hopeful that the one that argued from astrophysics might pique their interest.
  • An evangelical lady told me she always had an affinity for mother Mary, but admitted her congregation downplayed her role. She took some pamphlets on the Churches' teaching on Mary, but she wouldn't take a rosary. I think she wanted to learn more first.
  • A gentlemen approached me who was raised Catholic, but now belonged to a non-denominational church. He quizzed me about the USCCB's position on immigration. He thought it was too soft. While I agreed with him that immigration should be legal and controlled, I tried to defend the mercy we should show to the illegal immigrate once he makes it here.
