Seasons change, but the Gospel message is still needed -2021-03-07

Many people seemed distracted by the spring weather, but we still connected with a few. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A woman, on a shamrock-and-Easter-egg-bedecked  bicycle with trailer, stopped for a Rosary. She chose one, then asked for one for her granddaughter. “Bring her by to get one,” we suggested. She said the cathedral website said it was closed, but we said no, despite construction inside, the Mass schedule hasn’t changed. We gave her a map with the Mass times, and encouraged her to get reconnected. Pray for her return.

A group of about 6 children, all but one under the age of 12, sat at a picnic table near us. When two large pizzas arrived, they polished off both of them in just a few minutes. After listening to us offer free Rosaries for a long time, the older girl came to choose a Rosary. Not Christian, she accepted a copy of the kerygma pamphlet, too. She returned to the picnic table and sat reading the Rosary pamphlet. One by one, most of the other children asked for a Rosary, though one boy ended up throwing away his pamphlet. Pray especially for the girl, that she will draw closer to Christ through His Mother's prayer.

A boy, 5-7 years old, came to us and very politely asked for a Rosary. While he was making his selection, his father pulled up on his bike, pulling a toddler-aged girl in the trailer. The dad said he knew all about the Rosary because he had attended Catholic school for 13 years. E. Chuck asked him to think about returning, while e. Lucy encouraged him to pray the Rosary together with his son. The boy politely thanked us again as they left.

A group, consisting of a middle-aged man and a college-aged couple, stopped.  The woman chose a Rosary made out of heart-shaped beads. The young man chose the identical Rosary next to it. The woman is Catholic and promised to show the man beside her how to pray it. I don't think the older man took one.

A mother and two preteens came, each choosing a special chain Rosary.

A group of 3 college-aged people, two men and a woman, stopped. They wanted Rosaries and seemed familiar with them. The woman wished churches were open again for Mass, so we assured them that they were, and e. Lucy gave them a map of area parishes that also showed Mass times and contact info.  After each had chosen a Rosary, the man asked us to pray for him because he is seeking happiness. We prayed, asking Jesus to grant him the wisdom to know what he needs to do. May they all seek the only true happiness, in God.

It was a beautiful spring day at last, so lots of people were out. Few, however, (maybe 3% or fewer) were interested in what we offered. Still, the two evangelists gave away 10-12 Rosaries and its booklet, as well as 1-3 copies of the kerygma, and 1-2 maps.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.
