We ventured to Oviedo in the Park on Halloween for a food truck event. The outing was simple and we saw many people in costumes enjoying the park. There were two main encounters that night that really stood out:
There was a young couple about our age walking towards us. The young man had crutches and his ankle bandaged, while the woman was in a chewbacca outfit from Star Wars. I offered them a miraculous medal. Curious, the woman named Katie approached us and accepted the medals. They were from a First Baptist Church in the area and listened to the explanation of the medals. The conversation was short, but we encouraged them to check out the resources on the card.
I ran into an elderly couple who was taking a photo of their costumes. The man looked at me and I asked him if he wanted a miraculous medal. He said maybe his wife wanted one and began asking her in spanish. She didn’t know what the medals were so I took the opportunity to explain in spanish what the medal were and asked her if she was familiar with catholicism to which she replied yes. So I explained to her how we were sharing about our faith and she talked about going to a local parish nearby. We ended the conversation praying with her and her husband for healing in her family and she thanked us.
Thank you Lord for being with us in all our efforts!
