In the morning we took a colorful looking bus down to a marketplace in Detroit to encounter more people. After preparing our teams with prayers, we met a humble old man by the name of White Vase who accepted our offering of a rosary. He loved talking about his faith and he attends a non-denominational church nearby. He talked about the faith of his son as well and how proud he was as a father. We mentioned to him that we were sharing the gospel with people on the streets, and gave him a miraculous medal to learn about all the miracles that God had provided through it.

Waiting along in the street corner, I caught a glimpse of an elderly woman with hands full of fruit from shopping. She was making her way across the street when I noticed a car came in too fast and I bolted towards her to stop the car. When I reached her I offered a hand and helped her cross the street, explaining that I was giving out free miraculous medals and sharing my faith. She introduced herself as Jean and as a team we talked with her for about half an hour in which we found out she was a catholic as well and had recently gotten out of the hospital for medical problems. We shared with her how God desires to heal us in every part of our lives and we came together to pray for healing and lots of rest. She thanked us for our commitment to the faith as she left for home.

When the marketplace started to slow down, I encountered a woman who was waiting nearby for her husband to pick up her up. Receiving a miraculous medal, Moria and I discussed matters of the faith. She belonged to a unitarian church, and we worked our way to find some common ground that there was a Divine Creator and there needed to be better efforts towards peace in the world. Discussing catholicism, she explained that she was sometimes interested in the faith, but it was hard for her to embrace it with many of the problems that the media tended to point out. I agreed with her that there were problems in every religion, but it does not mean that there was simply no truth because of those problems. After much fruitful conversation and not realizing the time, she left wearing a miraculous medal and rushing off to her husband that was searching for her.

Nearing the end of our time at the marketplace, we encountered several more men who were christians that were excited to receive a miraculous medal and talk about Jesus. These friendly men, namely Albert and Billy, were happy to have met a catholic who was ready to proclaim the gospel with joy. Before leaving to meet with the team, I prayed with these brothers of mine for an increase of faith and prompted them to read more about the miracles of the medal.

Thank you Holy Spirit for inspiring our hearts to be open!
