God’s Work continues. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A tall, elderly, homeless-looking man, who has come by before, happily came to the table when offered a Rosary, muttering unintelligibly. He kept up a constant patter of “conversation” although we understood little of what he said. He seemed to understand us okay, but his speech pattern was very disordered. Still, he chose a Rosary and accepted its pamphlet. Then, by pointing, he asked for a copy of the two pamphlets we had on the table: “Why Be Catholic?”, and “Good News”/kerygma, as well as copy of a Memorare prayer card. As he crossed the plaza, he continued to talk to himself. Please pray for peace and healing for his mind.

A family (mom, dad, a toddler, a grade-school-aged boy, and a teenage girl) came to the table “to get a Rosary for the children”. The parents also each chose one. The mom wanted the Rosary pamphlet in Spanish. The boy asked for a Bible. First, e. Lucy made sure that the family had a Spanish-language one at home. They did. But the boy clarified that he wanted one in English. So, e. Chuck set him up with a full-sized Catholic study Bible, because the boy seemed intelligent enough to benefit from it. He and his younger sister also each accepted the Rosary pamphlet in English. The teen girl declined receiving anything from us. Lord, bless the whole family and grant the boy the wisdom to understand his need for You.

Two young men on skateboards sped towards us. One of them yelled, “I’ll take one!” and grabbed the offered Rosary as they shot past us. He didn’t get the Rosary pamphlet. The second one sped along right behind the lead boy, but he showed no interest in the Rosaries. However, there appeared to be four boys in this group. A little way behind them were their friends, two more guys on skateboards, named “Pierce” and “Tim”. They stopped at the table. Pierce accepted an extra Rosary pamphlet, promising to give it to his friend who did the grab-n-go. Though Pierce was not Catholic, he knew about the Rosary because a good friend of his had told him about it and had even taught him the Hail Mary. Both young men appreciated our full explanation of the Rosary and made sure to introduce themselves all around. Pray for Pierce and Tim, that their faith may remain steadfast and their hearts be open to the fullness of Faith to be found in the Catholic Church.

A teen girl from a group came to choose a Rosary. She was not familiar with the devotion, although she might have heard of Jesus Christ. E. Lucy showed her the stories in the Rosary pamphlet, as well as its diagram with the prayers and how to use the beads to time her meditations. The evangelist encouraged her to spend some time getting to know Who Jesus is. The girl didn’t show much emotion but accepted the pamphlet and chose a Rosary for herself. Jesus, draw her to begin to pray the Rosary and reveal Yourself to her through it.

A group of four 20-somethings were about to pass us by when one of them, a young man named “CJ”, decided to come to the table. The others followed, although two of them hung back declining a Rosary. CJ knew nothing about the Rosary and though he knew who Jesus is, he was iffy on whether he believed in Him. We explained the prayer and offered the Mysteries as a good first step in getting to know Jesus and assured him it was okay to share his doubts with God while praying. Both CJ and his girlfriend selected a Rosary and, as they were leaving, the other two decided to each take one. Pray that CJ and his friends fall in love with their Lord and Savior.

A young man accepted our offer of a Rosary and told us that he was Lutheran. E. Chuck said he had grown up Lutheran but had converted to Catholicism nine years ago. The man’s response was quick and sharp as he left with his Rosary: “Luther was Catholic and went the opposite way and the Catholics excommunicated him.” May Our Lady, through the Rosary, soften his heart toward the Catholic Church.

There were at least 2 groups of 4 young men, one or two of each group was very outgoing and polite, showing interest in the Rosary and the meditation. E. Nancy reports that she sometimes feels like she is meeting a future CEO of a major company. Lord, you know the plans you have for these young adults, keep them faithful to you throughout their lives.

There was a young family with a beautiful 6-month-old baby. The wife seemed very familiar with the Rosary. She apparently has been exposed to Catholicism in the past or is Catholic and not practicing. The husband seemed confused but open to hearing about it. They were both very happy to select their favorite Rosary. Lord, grant the family the grace to begin praying the Rosary together and bind them together in peace.

Two young women were very enthusiastic about our table even before they knew what we had! We were grateful to see that their enthusiasm only increased as they learned about the Rosary. May the Lord bless them and draw them ever closer to Himself.

One group of 5 women passed by. The first woman said, “No thank you, we know the truth.” Jesus, You are the Truth. May she come to know how You make Yourself present in Your Church.

One man made a mean grouchy face at us. Lord, open his heart to perceive the gift that is Your Holy Catholic Church.

Quite a few people stated they are Catholic and had lots of Rosaries, several accepting its pamphlet to refresh their memory. Lord, keep them all faithful participants in the Sacramental life of the Church.

We had several families with a young boy of 10 years old or so, they all wanted the most beautiful chain Rosaries on the table. Everyone loves beauty. Lord, You are the source of all beauty. Draw them each to Yourself!

There were several groups that passed by where one member of the group rethought our invitation and returned to the table. One of the times, a few others also selected a Rosary and, once, only one member of the group did so. Lord, may the Rosary draw each of these irreplaceable human beings into a deep, life-long relationship with You!

There was one young man, from a small group, who said he had a Rosary for his truck and wanted one to carry. Our impression was that he was not Catholic, but we encouraged him to use his Rosary for prayer. Lord, help people see that it’s not the Rosary beads that give protection, but the Lord to whom we pray.

A man asked when we would be done. We told him. From his elbow, he was dangling a mask usually associated with anarchist or anti-establishment people. This group of folks were animal-rights proponents. As soon as we had packed up, they set up a video monitor showing cattle being butchered. Lord, help them understand also the value of human life.

Altogether, we gave away another 30-35 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it, 1 Good News/kerygma pamphlet, 1 “Why Be Catholic?” pamphlet, and 1 Memorare prayer card.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

We never know whom God is going to send, but He does! So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
