A couple of weeks ago, seven of us went down to St.Leo's Soup Kitchen with many goods for the clients, donated from various groups at our parish, St. Therese of Lisieux.  The knitting/sewing group donated over 100 hand-made hats and gloves. The Religious Ed. students donated socks and made the clients home-made Christmas cards. Many parishioners donated monetary gifts which we turned into one big check to be used for the soup kitchen.  Of course we had our religious items and a prayer station which is always popular and welcomed.

One of the nicest events happened at a restaurant where we all went out to lunch afterwards.  Our meals came and we started say grace.  Our waitress walked up at that moment and we asked her if she would like to join us and if there was something we could pray about for her.  She got teary eyed and said that prayer was always welcome and told us about the tough time she was having financially. I searched my purse for a Miraculous Medal, which I always carry, for these surprise circumstances but remembered that I had just given one away the other day and forgot to refill.  My daughter reminded me that I was wearing one...I began taking it off and told her I would like her to have it.  She was beyond grateful and told us that she would never take it off!
