SPSE BASIC EVANGELIZATION TRAINING (B.E.T.) WORKSHOP

The SEVEN WEEK SPSE B.E.T. will be held at St. Colette Catholic Church Parish Hall at 330 West 130th Street, Brunswick, OH 44212. The doors open at 6 pm with the training session starting promptly at 6:15 pm and ending at 8:15 pm. Our workshop leader is Markus Bryant, who is the SPSE Team Leader for Lorain County, OH.

The first session is a comprehensive presentation of our SPSE ministry, statistical data about the spiritual condition of the people in our counties and of our church, the reasons why people are leaving our church, and what we can do to turn this situation around. This information is foundational to understanding SPSE’s mission. The remaining sessions will include brief videos, review of worksheet answers and hands on practice of the non-confrontational evangelization methods, etc. used by SPSE Evangelists. Attendees also will be given homework assignments for reading and skills practice during the week before the next class.

Attendees who attend all 7 sessions, participate in the workshop exercises and faithfully complete their reading and worksheet assignments will be prepared with their review to sit for the ONLINE open book SPSE CERTIFIED EVANGELIST exam.  You also will be able to function as an effective SPSE Evangelist with confidence and gain even more experience with every SPSE outing. SPSE B.E.T. Certification combined with your parish VIRTUS certification would qualify you to serve as a Team Leader or Station Leader, should you desire to serve in these team positions.

IMPORTANT PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS! The B.E.T. is not a PASSIVE training program where you sit in attendance with the idea of somehow soaking up the information. Workshop participants will receive a 1- inch training materials binder with reading material and worksheets to be completed. One can expect to spend 2-4 hours each week on reading, etc. in addition to the 2 hours of meeting time. The B.E.T. is a “workshop” program. You will get out of it only what you put into it.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Since each SPSE B.E.T. training session builds on the previous sessions and there will be no time to repeat the material, we ask that you do NOT register for this workshop if you know that you would miss ANY of the sessions. Catholic street evangelization is a serious ministry that can affect the eternal destiny of souls and therefore deserves the necessary training and commitment.

To have a successful workshop, we MUST have 10 or more people register. If spouses sign up together, please note that we do ask that spouses sit apart from each other in a separate table grouping, since their familiarity lessens the training impact of learning to connect with people they don’t know.
