The Rosary, Resolving Complications – 2026-Sep-20

Created: Sep 27, 2026

Jesus remains the answer to life’s confusions. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

  • We evidently arrived as a nearby festival, promoting a sinful lifestyle, was ending. Quite a few of the festival attendees passed our table, especially during the early part of the session. Most of them pretended to neither see nor hear us. (We occasionally see this behavior, but perhaps from only one or two people a month.) God, have mercy! One couple did acknowledge us. They each had rainbows painted on their faces. As they came to the table to choose a Rosary, we were surprised to learn that they identified as Catholic. Lord, have mercy and grant them trust in You and the law You gave us!
  • A man in his early 30s stopped after hearing our offer of a free Rosary. He was not familiar with the devotion and, when asked, “Do you know who Jesus is?”, his reply was cautious and equivocal. “It’s complicated”, he characterized his spiritual life. He’d been raised Christian but had fallen into “a foolish lifestyle” right out of high school. Ten years later, he’d “stopped and thought” and then recognized his need for God in his life. E. Lucy asked him what prompted him to “stop and think”. He considered the question and said, “When I was 27 <long pause> I realized I needed God in my life.” He had begun to admire the moral life of Christians and started reading the Bible for its moral teaching. He was able to put his sinful lifestyle behind, is different now, and feels he is making progress. As he said this, his face lit up! The evangelist explained the Rosary devotion to him as a way to get to know Jesus Christ and His love for him. She also exhorted him to keep praying, and to follow Jesus. He indicated that he’d try. Lord, our visitor admires Your moral law. Please reveal Yourself to him and let him know that You are the Divine Lawgiver.
  • A man in his mid- to late-30s, wearing a t-shirt with “God’s plan” on the front, was walking beside a 30-something woman. When we offered him a Rosary, the man’s face lit up. He came back to the table (as the woman continued on) and said he “really needed this”. He sheepishly added that he hadn’t been a great Catholic lately. But he was now praying daily, and declared, “This Rosary will help.” He shared that in his 20s, he’d forgotten about God and never thought of Him. Recently, though, he’d realized that he did need God in his life. He also showed us the back of his “God’s Plan” t-shirt: on one half there was a single butterfly, with the caption “My Plan”; the other half was filled with different types of butterflies in a variety of different colors: its caption read, “God’s Plan”. Lord, bring him back to full communion with You and help him grow in holiness.
  • “Marty” stopped by to say hi and ask about e. Chuck. However, the conversation again touched on nothing spiritual. Lord, please continue to heal Marty and free him from everything that keeps him from growing closer to You.
  • A family came to the table. First, each of the two preschool-aged children chose a Rosary. Then the parents did, too. Our impression was that they were Catholic. Lord, keep the family faithful and lead them ever closer to You.
  • A group of college-aged men went by. One dropped back to get a Rosary. But, when we asked him if he knew what it was for, he then seemed quite impatient to catch up with his peers. Since he wasn’t familiar with the Rosary devotion, we gave him a very brief introduction. He chose his Rosary, accepted the pamphlet on how to pray it, and hurried off to catch up with his friends. Lord, use the Rosary he chose to draw him into prayer and a living relationship with You.
  • A family stopped with young children. One little girl came over (with her parents’ permission). She was followed by another little girl, and then by the very pregnant Mom. They each got a Rosary and its booklet. Lord, in Your Wisdom, You often allow children to lead the way to You. Please bless this family and bring them all to salvation.
  • Four older teenage boys stopped. Two were very interested in learning about the devotion and receiving a Rosary. One might have gotten a Rosary only because the other two did. The last boy hung back. He didn’t accept a Rosary but did take its booklet, hoping to learn something about the Rosary. He seemed rather cautious but open to hearing the Gospel. Lord, give them each a desire to pray the Rosary, and then meet them and lead each of them to Yourself and salvation.
  • A group of four teenage girls stopped. They were impressed with the “so pretty!” Rosaries, and very receptive to the message about prayer and meditation on the life of Christ. They each picked a Rosary, took its booklet, and expressed their gratitude. Lord, protect each young woman and help her live a life of holiness that is pleasing to You!
  • We had a few “drive-bys”: people pausing just long enough to ask for the Rosary in our hand. On one of these occasions, e. Lucy ran after them to make sure they got the Rosary booklet, too. Lord, thank you for this response to You. Please grant them the knowledge that knowing You is the most important task in their lives right now.
  • One laughing man wanted the Rosary in e. Nancy’s hand. He said knew all about it, adding, “Hail Mary, full of grace.” The evangelist replied with the Glory Be. Lord, help him know that his need for You is serious and Your love for him is life-changingly amazing!
  • One man came up on his scooter. He said, “Yes, indeed” to our offer of a free Rosary. Lord, let his whole life become a “yes indeed” to Your will.
  • One man stopped and, after getting a Rosary, took out his wallet and tried to give a donation, which we politely declined. He was amazed that people out there make all these Rosaries for us to give away. Lord, again we ask You, please greatly bless each of our so-generous Rosary makers!
  • It was a beautiful day. Praise be to God, who so often grants us good weather on Sunday afternoons! Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 25-30 Rosaries and its pamphlet.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Jesus is Truth Himself, and cuts through the confusion brought about by sin. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love.
