Jesus in Your Pocket edition-Drive Thru Prayer 10/3/26

Created: Oct 4, 2026

Sharon had noticed a few sandwich bags of \"Jesus in your pocket\" figurines in the sacristy on Friday, October 2 when she lectored.  She asked our pastor Father Hagen if she could take a bag, thinking we could add them as a giveaway item to our monthly Drive Thru Prayer efforts.  Father Hagen said she could take all of the bags.  We ended up given out about two dozen of them in addition to medals.

Our evangelists today on a windy fall day were John, Phil, Rich, Sharon, and Suzanne.

N couldn\'t stay long, but wanted us to pray for a family gathering that she would be attending.

R drove up in much need of prayer.  He wanted us to pray for his relationship with his baby\'s mother, his newborn, and that he find a job.  He recently lost his job and has car problems.  We gave him a few pocket Jesus\' and medal of the Holy Spirit on a chain for wisdom on how to handle his various problems.  Suzanne gave him our parish bulletin and quick reference resource sheet she designed that lists various non-profits and agencies that give help.  Phil gave him the number for the new St Vincent de Paul Society chapter that our parish started.  He was very grateful for the resource sheet and information about the St Vincent de Paul chapter.

M walked up and wanted prayers for family, children and life in general. J from Ukraine wanted us to pray for the Ukrainian situation.

L and her family drove up.  L was tearful and wanted prayers for her recovery for her upcoming knee replacement surgery.  She asked for prayers that her husband and daughter are able to give her the support she needs as she recovers and they receive strength from the Holy Spirit.

Suzanne noticed T and another young man have a tussle in a neighboring parking lot.  She assumed it was just a playful tussle.  As she continued walking on the sidewalk with a sign promoting our Drive Thru Prayer, she noticed that T was crying.  It had NOT been a playful tussle with his brother.  Although the two young men hugged and appear to make up with each other, T was still upset when Suzanne talked to him.  She walked him over to our prayer station with her arm around his shoulders.  She gave him two pocket Jesus\', one for him and one for his brother.  She also gave him a medal as we gathered around to pray.

C walked up and spoke of her landlord issues and also asked prayers for toddler who received a liver transplant.  She was given a parish bulletin and resource sheet.  Two years ago, C helped Suzanne place posters advertising our Free Food Thursdays in her apartment building.

M wanted prayers for her son C.  C has many problems and had rejected Christianity and his mother\'s attempts to pray for him.  Recently, he asked if she would pray him and she asked our prayers to help him along the path to fix his problems and return to Christianity.

R and her daughter O came and asked for prayers for protection for her and her five children.  Phil told story about a child from his school bus driving job with the same as O.  It turns out that R used to drive school bus, but now works in the office.  R was give enough Jesus\' for all her children and medals on a chain.  O requested a chain, too, and was given a St Michael and a Guardian Angel.

D wanted prayers for herself and her daughters, one who was recently diagnosed with autism. M wanted prayers for help with his cousin and also his finances.

Lastly, after we were officially done and Suzanne was running errands, she ran into J, a homeless man.  She gave him pocket Jesus and a medal on a chain she had with her. She also gave him a card with information on Monday meals at Tobit House, our refurbished convent, that offers potluck meals every Monday.  Those who are unable to bring a item for the potluck may still attend.

It was a fruitful day for praying for our community.
