Jesus Christ prayed that we all might be one (cf. John 17:21), and the Rosary is a powerful prayer for restored unity. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

• “Jorge” stopped for a Rosary. He spoke in slightly accented English, so e. Lucy asked if he would like the Rosary pamphlet in Spanish. “No,” he said, “I usually pray it in Latin.” This led to a cordial discussion of the schism that’s recently occurred between the Catholic Church and a Latin-loving sect, of which he identifies as a member. The evangelist warned him that if he continues to attend those services, he will bring excommunication upon himself, and that the Sacraments there are now neither licit nor valid. He said he understood, but wondered why the Catholic Church has not also excommunicated certain irregular clergy in a another country. The evangelist said the Church was still trying to negotiate with them, as they had for decades with his own now-schismatic sect, trying to prevent the split. She also mentioned the Latin Mass options that were available to Jorge at parishes in Idaho that remain in full communion with Rome and the local bishop. But he’s only going to be in Idaho for a few days, he said. He did compliment us on offering Rosaries in public, something he hasn’t seen in his home state. As he took his leave, he opened his hand to show the Rosary he’d just accepted from us and said he’d entrust the whole situation to Our Blessed Mother. Lord, grant Jorge an obedient heart and restore him to union with the Church that You founded.
• “Uwe” just waved as he walked by, since we were all busy talking with other people. Lord, continue to draw Uwe to You and salvation.
• A young man stopped for a Rosary and, after receiving a brief explanation of the prayer, said, “So... walk me through this.” We demonstrated the prayer, step by step, and showed him how meditating on one of the Mysteries, using the Resurrection as an example, could draw him into a deeper connection with Christ and understanding of himself in relation to Christ. Though he still seemed a little overwhelmed by the devotion, he thanked us before moving on. Pray that his focus is not on “doing it right” but on deepening his relationship with Jesus with the help of Our Lady.
• Another young man, curious about the Rosary and Catholicism, stopped to ask about the prayer. He did not take a Rosary but accepted the pamphlet on how to pray it, after e. Clare explained the Rosary, emphasizing the Christ-centeredness of the prayer. Though he was in a hurry, he waited for us to find a “Why Be Catholic?” pamphlet, which he pocketed before going on his way. Pray he cooperates with the grace of curiosity so that it grows into a determined pursuit of truth and that he finds his way into the Catholic Church.
• A man stopped for a Rosary. He was pulling a trailer filled with an enormous dog of a type bred for fighting. He immediately attached the Rosary to the front rail of the wagon. We encouraged him to use the Rosary for prayer rather than decoration, but he said he “always says a short prayer every morning”. He stayed to talk. He used to live on the street but is now in housing. His stories were all themed around violence or threats of violence. He was calm only when talking about the dog. Pray that he allows “the peace that surpasses understanding” (cf. Phil 4:7) to invade his life so he can see Christ in others.
• A Catholic family of four adults came to the table to get a Rosary apiece. Only the father spoke, but not very much. Lord, please bless this family as they pray the Rosary and keep them Faithful!
• “Marlene” and her husband responded to our offer of a free Rosary. Her husband pulled out his necklace that held a variety of Catholic medals. They also each wore a Rosary around their neck, inside their shirt. E. Clare asked if they prayed it and they didn’t quite answer, finally saying they had prayed it at a funeral two years ago. They also volunteered that they had just come from Mass. The evangelist encouraged them to start praying daily. E. Clare also encouraged him with the Scripture, “for where two or three are gathered, He is present” (cf. Matthew 18:20). She then shared how the daily family Rosary has played out in her family, and brought blessing to the home. The husband then went to our table to talk with e. Chuck and choose a Rosary.
• At that, the wife locked eyes with e. Clare and said, “This is exactly what I’ve been praying for.” She said they’ve had some family trouble this week and she was desperate for prayer, especially with her husband. She has been trying to get him to lead this in their family. E. Clare prayed for her for peace in her home. Marlene then asked if she could hug the evangelist. She did not let go for quite a while. 
• And while e. Clare was praying over Marlene and the husband was picking out his Rosary, the other two evangelists tried to encourage him to make the prayer a regular part of his day. But he kept shrugging us off and saying, “I pray every morning and every night.” But he also said that he planned to hang the Rosary in his car “to keep them safe”. E. Lucy expressly said that it was “not a good luck charm” (in the way he seemed to treat all the stuff on his necklace) but that the Rosary’s effectiveness was in using it reverently as he meditated on the scenes from Christ’s life. Lord, please grant Marlene peace and help her husband understand the importance of developing a deep relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ.
• E. Clare encouraged another father (with his baby in a stroller and his wife beside him) to lead his family in prayer. The evangelist gave him a Rosary and its pamphlet. Lord, bless that family and draw them to You and salvation.
• Several non-Catholic Christians were curious about the Rosary and we told them that the Rosary is for all believers, and we gave them its pamphlet so they could learn more. Lord, draw them to pray the Rosary and draw ever closer to You.
• A school teacher named “Alicia” who had converted to Catholicism around 15 years ago stopped for a Rosary and to chat. The seeds of her conversion had been planted by a statue of Jesus in front of a Catholic church. She felt emotionally moved by that image whenever she walked past it. Then one year, her non-Catholic Christian church decided not to have a Christmas Eve worship service because it fell on Sunday and they thought everyone should be home with their families. She found a midnight Mass at the Catholic parish with the Jesus statue, attended the service and decided to convert. She has since helped guide a student and a fellow teacher into the Catholic Church, although her husband remains outside the Church. Pray that her husband’s heart will be softened toward the Catholic Church and that her faith will continue to shine in the world.
• Altogether, we gave away about 25 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as a “Why Be Catholic?” pamphlet.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit comes of today’s efforts.
