Our team relies on the Holy Spirit to guide our evangelization effort. Every outing begins with a priest blessing and with prayer. We predominately evangelize at Cooper River Park; however, we also go to other places, such as the Cherry Hill Mall.
At Cooper River Park tables are not allowed, so we carry our supplies with us as we walk in the park. Our team opens up a conversation with the people we encounter by offering them a free rosary. The offering of the rosary, besides giving us an opportunity to begin a conversation about Jesus, also lets the person who stops to select a rosary know that the conversation they will be having will be one related to God and faith. Whether or not a person takes a rosary, we also let them know that we have over 20 people who are committed to pray daily for any intentions they have for one week. If the person is open to it, we pray with them during the encounter.
Our SPSE – Merchantville team members are supported by rosary makers and prayer partners. As someone makes a rosary, they pray for the person who will receive the rosary and for the evangelist who will give it away. People are frequently touched to find out that someone has already been praying for them. The prayer partners pray for the people’s intentions that we receive while evangelizing. People are so grateful to know that someone cares enough to pray for their intentions.
