Stories from the Street

Tampa, FL. Christ’s love can reach a soul through pretty much any means. Which is why the evangelists in today’s story had great confidence that even holding up signs by the side of the road could help touch the hearts of the folks driving by in the city nicknamed, The Big Guava.

The following report comes to us from team leader Bill with our team in Tampa, FL:
Once again, due to the rise in cases of COVID-19 here in the Tampa Bay area, we decided to show the love of Christ from a safe distance with our signage. The day was beautiful as was our reception by the motorists of this very busy intersection. Many thanks to a great turnout by regulars Mike, Richard, Reuben, Joe, Sarah and I; with a special shoutout to newcomers Stacia and Bob.
In the words of Mike, one of our most regular evangelists, “I thought today was a great effort for Jesus.”
1 – We showed the name of Jesus to thousands of drivers who saw our signs and might not of thought of Him at all today
2 – We most certainly had some impact on the spiritual thoughts of some people
3 – I believe that ones who honked were not only acknowledging Jesus but very glad to see people unafraid to share their Christianity
4 – I get a real sense of unity in Christ when we connect with the people (honking or waving)
In many ways I think we accomplish a lot in those few hours. I’m not sure when we will resume normal table-encounter activities. We’re trying to be sensitive to those at risk. Stay tuned for our next event.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
