The following report comes to us from evangelization school student Martha with our team in Las Cruces, NM:
Last weekend, after the weekend Masses at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces, I completed part of my final year end project for the Virtual School of Evangelization. I joined two members of the Las Cruces SPSE team (Mike, team leader, and another Mike). We were present to talk and pray with people, and try to get them to share their testimonies. We posted a large SPSE banner as the backdrop, and had pamphlets, Rosaries, Miraculous Medals, CD’s, prayer cards on the table. We even wore our “What’s Your Story?” t-shirts!
We honestly doubted people would stop by our table and would be shy about sharing their faith journeys with us (we offered people a “free gift” for sharing their testimony–a copy of the SPSE apologetics reference guide rolled up with a SPSE St. Peter billion dollar bill around it and tied with a ribbon). But quite the opposite happened. Before Masses even started, people stopped by our table and the conversations began. Parishioners were very eager to share their heartfelt encounters with the Lord and why they love being a member of the Catholic Church. Their stories were inspiring and some emotional. Mike offered to pray for people that wanted it.
What a great turnout! We even had three people indicate they’d like more information to join the evangelization team. My lesson–have an expectant faith at the outset of our evangelization outings. Expect God to do great things in this work of bringing souls to Him.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
