This report comes from team leader Mark with the Eastern Market SPSE team in Detroit, Michigan:
Anne, Bill, Susan, and I evangelized outside of the farmer’s market last Saturday morning. About 15 minutes into our outing, two men approached our table, looking curiously at the items on our table. I offered a free Rosary to the man closest to me and he said he would take anything that’s free. We started talking about faith, he opened up and talked about his recent problems. He recently moved back home to Detroit after suffering a lot of challenges out of state, including being a victim of a robbery and losing his job. He introduced himself as Ricky then Susan and I prayed with him. We prayed that Ricky will trust in God for providence and we talked about the importance of forgiveness. Susan asked him if he forgave the man that rob and he said yes. Susan then said the unforgiveness often prevents healing. We also said that these challenges could allow him to grow closer to Christ.
Bill arrived at the end of the prayer and he continued the conversation. Bill encouraged Ricky to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet, gave him a pamphlet on how to pray it, and told him a brief overview. Bill told him to pray “Jesus, I trust in you” whenever he felt discouraged. Ricky spent about half an hour with us, much of that time praying with evangelists. Multiple times, especially near the end, he definitely held back tears and was afraid to be seen crying in public. Susan and Bill both consoled him, saying that it was a strong reminder of God’s love for Ricky. Ricky asked if there was someone else he could talk to when he wants to pray. Mark said yes and referred him to our 833-99-JESUS prayer line. He added the number into Ricky’s phone and said that they might not answer immediately but leave a message and they will call you back.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
