The following story comes to us from team leader Nancy with our team in Gaithersburg, MD:

Tom and I arrived at the same time at the bus transit center and we could feel tension in the air and much dissension. We had heard from the people who usually gather there that there had been an incident a couple of days ago which required police intervention. As soon as we set up our table and prayed, however, there was a tangible peace that surrounded us. We both remarked on how quiet it got all of a sudden. We could sense Mary’s presence and God’s holy angels around us. The Thursday before, I had talked to a man named Paul who had been released from prison a couple of months ago and had given his life to the Lord but had financial and health problems. Sheila and I prayed over him for healing. I took his number and called the St. Vincent de Paul Society at our church who responded to his need so quickly. So grateful that there are people so willing to help in this very important ministry. I am sure it really touched Paul and boosted his faith in God’s love for him.

So many people we meet have just arrived in the US and need direction. A young adult named Juan who is from El Salvador is here by himself to make a living while his family is back home. He is Catholic but was not attending any church. He was very eager to receive information about the different churches in the area. Sherri just arrived from India and is actually Hindu but was open to hearing the gospel and wanted some more information to read. I pray God opens her eyes to the truth of His love for her personally. Thank you to Tom who prayed with a number of people who were asking for prayer.

God’s timing is also so amazing. I saw a man named Raymond who I had met previously six month before. We recognized each other immediately. He was inebriated, a former Catholic who went to the same grade school that I did and a reputable Catholic high school. He shared a bit about his life and how it had gone astray. Even though he was under the influence, I sensed that he needed to recommit his life to God which he did. He remembered that day very clearly, he said. In the meantime he had been charged with a couple of crimes and put in jail. That day he had just been released and I prayed over him for the Lord to direct him in the right way as he committed his life to the Lord again. May God continue to lead him.
