• Galva, Illinois Regional Missionary
• Started with SPSE in 2019
Leigh is a new Regional Missionary residing in Galva Illinois. She is working to build a culture of evangelization in her area.
What motivates you to evangelize? or What led you to SPSE?
After working in several parishes, I began to recognize something else needed to be happening. There were a lot of disengaged families and I realized we could not sit back and wait for them to come to us. God had also been speaking to me through Scripture stories of signs and wonders. Then I received an email about a healing and evangelization retreat in Indiana. I have been trying to get others excited in my parish to go out, but I was feeling like the lone ranger. I attended the Immersion last summer and participated in the Regional Missionary tract. I then changed jobs, which put a halt on trying to start anything extra. I am currently hoping to connect with the teams near me, and work with some parishes to form teams.
Can you share an "elevator speech" version of your testimony of God's work in your life?
After ten years of being away from my faith, my whole life was falling apart. I was facing financial, marital, employment, and physical problems. My husband left and my health problems were getting worse. I could not afford a surgery to remove the cancerous cells and did not have insurance. When I went back to the Doctor, the cells were gone. I knew God had given me a second chance and I needed to find out what purpose He had for me. I began seeking His will in my life and it has been amazing.
