The Virtual Street Evangelization Workshop is a hands-on evangelization training seminar designed specifically for street evangelization. When so many efforts to promote the New Evangelization are focused primarily on catechesis about evangelization, this workshop teaches Catholics, no matter their experience, how to share their faith effectively and enthusiastically with the people they encounter out on the street.

During this three hour training, you will hear presentations by experienced evangelists that teach and model the SPSE method of direct evangelization. After each lesson, participants will practice and sharpen their skills in small group breakout sessions. The workshop equips participants with the skills and confidence they need to start evangelizing. Some of the skills you will learn include:

▪ How to share the Gospel message
▪ How to share what God has done in your life
▪ How to pray out loud for someone
▪ How to start and direct a conversation towards faith in Jesus and the Church

It all takes place on Saturday, May 22 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. EST. The cost is $29.99 for non-partners, and $14.99 for pledging partners. (You can become a partner by clicking here.)

Free Prayer

Bradford, IL. Leigh, Dcn. John, Kate and myself went out to evangelize today as part of my final project for the virtual evangelization school. It was Leigh, Dcn. John, Kate, and myself. Kate is in my Bible study, and agreed to evangelize without asking any questions about what would happen during the outing. She said she was just open to the experience and that openness is definitely one of her gifts. She also can talk to anyone. I asked her to keep notes of who we spoke with and what their problem was that we prayed for.
We set up a table with a sign and a sandwich sign. Both signs offered “Free Prayer”. We waved at and greeted people, some of whom wanted prayer. A woman named “Christina” asked for prayer for her addiction to alcohol. She is a caretaker for many, and has tried rehab a couple of times without success. Deacon asked if she was baptized. She said no and that she used to go to the Salvation Army, but they moved from town. I was so glad that Dcn. John was present for her. She was clearly in need of pastoral care. He gave her his name and number.

A Small Yes Makes a Big Difference

Ave Maria, FL. After evangelizing, I stopped off for lunch on my walk home. I left my mobile evangelization station (wagon) by the tables outside as I went in to order a sandwich. When I returned one of the local students was there looking through the many rosaries that were sparkling in the sunshine. This started a conversation. It turns out that there had been a tragedy in her family, and, as a result, her faith was badly shaken. She was not attending Mass as she once had. The rosary was common ground. She accepted one and we prayed together.

What’s interesting is that there was nothing special that I did to reach this young woman. She simply saw the rosaries and was drawn to them. That’s often how it is when we go out on the street. God orchestrates the encounters he has planned for us. It’s not our work; it definitely is God’s work in us.
