This report comes from Mason, an evangelist with the SPSE team in Greenville, South Carolina:

Caleb and I returned to the Barnyard Flea Market last Saturday. Leo and Amanda were passing by and he had a shirt on that said “Army.” I asked him if he was still in the Army and he said “No, I’m in a better army now” and pulled out some rosary beads. He told me he was away from the church and just recently returned. They attend Prince of Peace. He took a few pamphlets to help him better learn and defend his faith — like a good soldier.

The vendor next to us named Malley has an 8-year-old son named Dillinger. They are from the north and she finds herself to be one of the few Catholics in her area down here. She works at the flea market every Saturday and Sunday, but routinely listens to the Mass on a live podcast. I gave her the “Why Be Catholic” pamphlet as well as “Am I Saved?” to help her speak of her Catholicism amongst all her Baptist friends. She also took the Dominican pamphlet on the virtues that she can use to teach her son.

Reverend Walters from the Pentecostal “Church of God” stopped by to say hello, and we talked briefly on the basics of the faith on which Catholics and Protestants both agree. I gave him the new “Am I Saved” pamphlet so he might better understand the Catholic view on grace and justification.

A couple was strolling by, and the man was wearing a “Belmont Abbey” T-shirt. Caleb said to him, “Judging from your T-shirt, I assume you’re Catholic,” to which the man replied “no” – he and his wife were actually Baptist. I gave him the “Why Be Catholic” pamphlet as well as “Am I Saved?” and “Pillar of Fire”.

We handed out the “Why Be Catholic” pamphlet to numerous others and quite a few rosaries to children, taking care to give a “How to pray the rosary” pamphlet to the parents. We plan to go out on the 3rd Saturday of next month. Please continue to pray for us or consider even coming out! And thank you for all your prayers and support so far!
