The following report comes to us from team leader Dcn. Alex with our Catholic Charismatic Center Outreach team in Houston, Texas:
the Catholic Charismatic Center’s SPSE evangelism team of 12 set out on a blustery bitter cold Saturday night, especially for Houston’s Discovery Green. The park was nearly empty and we weren’t expecting much outreach action. but we eventually encountered dozens of people, mostly young adults. About 30-40% we reached out to respond to our offers of sacramentals & prayer where typically only about 1 in 10 people respond to our outreach on a normal afternoon/evening. The cold didn’t appear to deter these young people from venturing out.
Notable encounters included:
-Two Hispanic men awaiting prostitutes changed their minds for the evening after being offered a rosary and prayer by a mobile team with a Spanish-speaking evangelist.
-Two young men raised Baptist, recommitted their lives to Christ after receiving crucifixes and being evangelized with a Holy card and Jesus-at-the-door tract.
-An ex-Muslim (now Christian) was absolutely thrilled to learn more about the Catholic Christian faith with our materials and verbal dialogue. He was invited to Mass as well as being prayed with.
-We gave away dozens of rosaries, crucifixes, Holy Cards and other sacramentals which led to spiritual discussion and prayer with many people, a number struggling with hopelessness and depression.
Our Lord turned a seemingly “dead” night into a spiritually productive time and our evangelists went home rejoicing at His faithfulness! Hopefully this testimony will encourage other evangelization teams to press on sharing the Gospel Of Jesus Christ and His Church, regardless of physical and spiritual environmental factors. God is faithful!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
