The following report comes to us from team leader Dcn. Alex with our Catholic Charismatic Center team in Houston, TX:
The Catholic Charismatic Center (CCC) team regularly evangelizes at Discovery Green Park, setting up a table near the park’s entrance and also sends out mobile teams (2-3 people per Mt 10:1 & Lk 10:1). Typically, we have 6-12 evangelists. In recent encounters a young man, who said he was not a Christian, committed his life to Our Lord after the evangelist shared the Kerygma using the Jesus at the Door card. Another young man who had been recently baptized in a non-Catholic Christian church, approached our table with many questions about our Catholic faith. After an hour of ongoing discussion and questions/answers the man stated prior to meeting us he had prayed asking God for clarification on faith questions, and “happened” on our table. After a time of prayer the man was encouraged to seek fellowship/bible studies at his church and was also invited to the local Catholic church, as well as the CCC. He left uplifted. These are examples of our regular interactions in the park.
In addition to preaching the Gospel message, the evangelists will engage non-practicing Catholics and non-Catholics who are on the sidewalk, by giving them sacramentals and praying with them for various needs, including physical/emotional healing, family, work and other issues. All receive cards with Mass times at the local parish, The Church of the Annunciation, or the CCC, where many Spanish speakers are encouraged to visit. We are so grateful that God uses us, His energetic army of believers, to spread His message of hope and joy.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
