The following report comes to us from team leader Peter with our team in Sebastian, FL:
Under the Vero Beach library entrance overhang, two of our team set up our table-top cart and two sandwich board signs. We were immediately assaulted verbally by a middle aged Levite (his term), who declared there is one God and we are idolaters. He went on and on for quite a long time telling us how we were wrong, and how he was right, quickly countering any attempt by us at dialogue. When he said Catholics are the worst enemies of the Jews, and I asked how that was, he cited the inquisition and said Hitler was a baptized Catholic. He shut down any attempt to respond, so at that point we told him he’s just prejudiced, and he can move on, which he did.
The very next fellow we met took a crucifix and chain for himself, shook my hand and declared he’d been a Catholic all his life. When he said he was from Pakistan, we talked about how terrible Christians are persecuted there, in particular through the blasphemy laws. He mentioned several churches were burned there only a few months ago. He said one Catholic man is being considered for sainthood after he was blown up blocking a suicide bomber from entering a church. He was wearing a Christ Renews His Parish bracelet, spent a long time with us, and is interested in joining the team. He watches a lot of apologetics with Muslims and asked that they be sent to him for discussion. We prayed for him to find a job, and for a homeless man for a home. We met several Catholics from local churches, and a young Episcopal woman with two children. They took two pamphlets, one on the rosary and one on the Hail Mary.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
