The following report comes to us from our team in Atlanta, GA:
Soccer fans across the world have their attention fixed on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place in multiple sites in America, Mexico, and Canada. Catholics in Atlanta (including SPSE), where they are hosting eight matches, are taking the opportunity to share the Gospel.
A Catholic Radio station (1160 AM–The Quest Atlanta) has set up a hospitality booth at the ATL Experience (where fans can buy merchandise, food & beverages, and art. It’s run by clergy, SPSE evangelists, volunteers from the Archdiocese, local parishioners, and employees from the radio station.
Visitors can get information about local churches, Mass times, give prayer requests, get information about the Catholic faith, brochures, prayer cards, religious images, rosaries, and there’s even a wheel people can spin to win prizes. They also have prayer cards featuring St. Luigi Scrosoppi, the patron saint of soccer.
All kinds of people have come up to the booth. A woman who recently lost her husband visited, and an SPSE evangelist prayed with her. Many couples have also come up to the booth to ask the priests in attendance for a blessing on their marriage.
That’s just a small taste of the many encounters we had. More stories to come!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
