We pray for divine appointments before we venture to go out and encounter the people, and God was true to hearing our prayers.  Molly, an Encounter Ministries' student, joined  us.  The first person that she met was Phil who had just gotten out of jail and was looking for direction.  He had not been to church in years and would like to go back.  Molly gave him some information and prayed with him for some broken relationships he needed prayers for.  Because Molly showed up, the direction of this man's life changed.  Tom prayed for and over a woman who had pain in her right hand.  He encouraged her in her faith and was built up.  They both prayed for another person, Brian, who opened up about his addiction.  It was a beautiful encounter revealing the mercy of God being poured out.  May God draw all these people to Himself.

Bob and I headed down to the Waterfront Metro down in DC last Saturday to be with Fr. George Schommer who wanted to encourage his parishioners to cross the "chicken line" to go out and evangelize.  To our surprise there was a 95 year old woman named Doris who joined us and was an amazing evangelist!  She had no reservations about going up to people and engaging them.  Father met an older man, Yuri, from Ukraine who was deeply troubled about the war in Ukraine.  Father was so good to him, just letting him talk and really listening to him.  Yuri's son, Eric, currently has a drug problem and was raised in the faith but no longer attends church.  After talking and praying with Father, I could feel a sigh of relief from Yuri as he felt peace and that he was listened to.  So many people just need another person to share their burdens with.  I met two people, James and Theresa,  asking for their housing situation that God would open up doors and provide for them.  They were very grateful.  There were many other people who were just not interested in receiving anything, only the needy people who were reaching out to us.  I also met two young adult girls who said that they were raised Catholic but now attend the Unitarian Church.  I asked them why they had left the Catholic Church and they said they did not agree with the teaching about abortion and that a woman has the right to choose what she does with her body.  I reminded them that killing an innocent child because of a woman's right will ultimately bring much suffering mentally, spiritually and physically to that woman.  They immediately said 'have a nice day' and left abruptly.  Hopefully they will think about my response to them.

It was a pleasure evangelizing with Father and Doris.  May many parishioners respond to his request to evangelize.
