RakeAthon 11/1/25
November 5, 2025
Saturday, All Saints Day was the perfect day for the Saint Raphael Saints (the team name for our school) to head out to help the community by raking lawns. The school children, parents, and teachers raked 20 lawns. In addition to helping community members with lawns, the children raised money for the scholarship fund to help children affordably attend our parish school.
After raking, they headed back to the school cafeteria for a lunch of hot dogs and hot soup.
We set up our table of free items so it was the first things rakers saw as they headed into the cafeteria. Since we have been told 55% of the student body is non-Catholic, this is a good opportunity for those families to acquire Catholic items since all students are require to attend Catholic religion instruction as part of the school day.
We handed out Spanish Catholic children's books for our large Hispanic population in the school. Some were claimed by the Spanish teacher for use in her classroom. We also gave away English Catholic children's books, and of course many rosaries and medals. Holy cards seemed to be popular items this year with the children. Let's pray they often use the prayers on the reverse side.
