Welcome to your Birmingham-Homewood, Alabama chapter of St. Paul Street Evangelization. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings” Isaiah 52:7. We are sharing the POSITIVE message of our Catholic faith “upon the mountains” around Birmingham!

This team formed in July 2015 after the initial team members met at a diocesan-sponsored Basic Evangelization Training Workshop at St. Peter the Apostle in Hoover, AL. In August, 2015, the team leader, Teresa Pitts, attended the SPSE Leadership Training Institute at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan. We do both static table setups and “backpack mode” (in which we walk around an event). Our team has been to local parks, farmers markets, community events, parades, Catholic parish festivals, and the local Catholic High School football and basketball games. We recently partnered with “Source and Summit” events to set up INSIDE a local movie theater complex!

Birmingham St. Paul Street Evangelization at Our Lady of Lourdes 29th Annual Labor Day Festival.

St. Paul Street Evangelization is a grassroots, non-profit organization, dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking our Catholic Faith to the streets. We do this in a non-confrontational way, by first offering a free Miraculous Medal or Rosary, and allowing the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of those who witness our public Catholic presence. We also hand out information on aspects of the Catholic faith, answer questions, direct persons to resources as needed, and pray with them if desired.

Christ’s call to evangelize was made to every Catholic Christian, and the Second Vatican Council reiterated this need, urging each of the baptized to bring the Gospel, found fully in the Catholic Church, to a culture that has largely reverted to paganism. As an on-the-street Catholic evangelization organization, St. Paul Street Evangelization provides an avenue for you to share the Person of Jesus Christ and the truth and beauty of the Catholic Faith with a hungry culture.
